Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X suitable for swimming or showering?
Yes, the Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X features 200m water resistance, making it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and other recreational water sports. However, it is generally not recommended to wear any watch in the shower due to potential issues with steam and soap.
How does the Eco-Drive movement work, and does it require battery changes?
The Eco-Drive solar movement in the Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X converts any light source into energy, storing it in a power cell. This eliminates the need for regular battery changes, offering a convenient and environmentally friendly power solution for daily use.
What makes the Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X different from other chronographs in its price range?
The Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X stands out with its combination of Eco-Drive solar technology, atomic timekeeping for superior accuracy, and a perpetual calendar. Many chronographs in this price range might offer one or two of these features, but rarely all three in a single, stylish package.
What wrist sizes is the 43mm Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X suitable for?
A 43mm case size generally suits medium to larger wrist sizes, typically ranging from 6.5 to 8 inches (16.5 to 20 cm) in circumference. The watch's 13.05mm thickness also contributes to its presence on the wrist, making it a good fit for those who prefer a substantial timepiece.
How often should I have my Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X serviced?
While the Eco-Drive solar movement reduces maintenance needs, it's advisable to have the watch checked every 5-7 years to ensure the seals and internal components are in optimal condition. This helps maintain its 200m water resistance and overall performance.
Can I change the brown leather strap on this watch?
Yes, the Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X comes with a brown leather strap that can be changed. The lug width is 22mm, allowing for a wide variety of aftermarket straps to customize the watch to your personal style or for different occasions.
Editor's take
The Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X emerges as a compelling proposition for those seeking a feature-rich chronograph with the convenience of solar power. Positioned within Citizen's popular PCAT line, this model caters to the active urban professional or the frequent traveler who demands both style and unwavering accuracy. Its distinctive green dial and rose-gold tone case offer a contemporary twist on a classic sporty aesthetic, making it a versatile choice for various wardrobes and settings.
Central to its appeal is the Eco-Drive solar movement, a hallmark of Citizen's commitment to sustainable and reliable timekeeping. This technology harnesses any light source, eliminating the need for battery replacements and ensuring the watch is always ready for action. Complementing this, the watch features atomic timekeeping with synchronized adjustment across 43 cities, providing exceptional precision. The robust 43mm stainless steel case is paired with a sapphire crystal, offering superior scratch resistance and durability for daily wear.
While the PCAT CB5919-00X offers a wealth of features, its 13.05mm case thickness, combined with a 43mm diameter, might present a somewhat substantial presence on smaller wrists. The busy dial, while functional with its multiple subdials and indicators, could be overwhelming for minimalists. Furthermore, while the 200m water resistance is excellent for most aquatic activities, it lacks the ISO 6425 certification typically found in dedicated dive watches, meaning it's not strictly a professional diving instrument.
Ultimately, the Citizen PCAT CB5919-00X is an excellent choice for individuals prioritizing advanced functionality, low maintenance, and global timekeeping capabilities in a stylish package. Its blend of perpetual calendar, chronograph, and atomic time synchronization makes it a strong contender against other solar-powered chronographs in its price segment. For those who prefer a more understated or purely mechanical experience, alternatives from brands like Seiko or Tissot might be worth exploring.
