Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Hamilton Khaki Field H70605733 suitable for daily wear and swimming?
Yes, the Khaki Field H70605733 is designed for daily wear and is water resistant to 100 metres (10 bar). This makes it suitable for swimming and showering, but not for scuba diving. Its robust stainless steel case and sapphire crystal ensure durability for everyday adventures.
What kind of movement powers this Hamilton Khaki Field watch?
The Hamilton Khaki Field H70605733 is powered by a reliable Swiss H-10 automatic movement. This self-winding calibre boasts an impressive 80-hour power reserve, meaning it can run for over three days without being worn or manually wound.
How does the H70605733 compare to other field watches in its price range?
The Hamilton Khaki Field H70605733 stands out with its combination of a robust 42mm stainless steel case, a high-quality Swiss H-10 automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve, and a durable sapphire crystal. Many alternatives might offer a lower power reserve or mineral glass at a similar price point, making this a strong contender for those prioritising reliability and build quality.
Is the leather strap comfortable for extended wear?
The Hamilton Khaki Field H70605733 comes with a cow leather strap that is designed for day-long comfort. Leather straps generally conform to the wrist over time, offering a personalised fit. The pin buckle ensures a secure and adjustable closure for various wrist sizes.
What is the lug width of this watch, and can I change the strap?
The lug width for the Hamilton Khaki Field H70605733 is 22.0 mm. This is a standard size, allowing you to easily replace the black leather strap with a wide variety of aftermarket straps, including NATO, canvas, or other leather options, to customise its look.
Does the watch have good visibility in low light conditions?
Yes, the Hamilton Khaki Field H70605733 features Super-LumiNova on its hands and hour markers. This luminous material ensures excellent readability and visibility of the dial in dim lighting or complete darkness, which is a key characteristic for a functional field watch.
Editor's take
The Hamilton Khaki Field H70605733 stands as a quintessential example of a robust automatic field watch, perfectly suited for men who value both historical authenticity and modern reliability. This model, part of Hamilton's storied Khaki Field collection, draws directly from the brand's military heritage, offering a design that is both functional and timeless. It appeals to adventurers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a durable, no-nonsense timepiece for daily wear.
Powering this dependable watch is the Hamilton H-10 automatic movement, a Swiss-made calibre renowned for its impressive 80-hour power reserve. This extended autonomy means the watch can be set aside for a long weekend and still keep accurate time, a significant advantage over many standard automatic movements. The 42mm stainless steel case is topped with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, ensuring durability and clear legibility in demanding conditions, complemented by 100 metres of water resistance.
While the H70605733 excels in rugged functionality, its traditional leather strap, while comfortable, might not be the ideal choice for prolonged submersion or extreme wet conditions. Users frequently engaging in water sports might consider swapping it for a synthetic or NATO strap to maximise its water resistance capabilities. The fixed lug width of 22mm, however, offers ample aftermarket strap options for customisation.
Ultimately, the Hamilton Khaki Field H70605733 is highly recommended for those seeking a reliable, historically-inspired field watch with a strong automatic movement and excellent build quality. Its blend of heritage, performance, and versatile design makes it a compelling choice for a daily companion, especially for individuals who appreciate the practical elegance of a well-engineered tool watch.
