Casio WS-1700H-8AVCF, 49mm, Black Dial, Gray Resin Band

The Casio WS-1700H-8AVCF is a robust men's digital watch designed for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly those engaged in marine activities.

It features a precise quartz movement and a clear digital display that provides essential information like tide graphs and moon phases, crucial for planning fishing or boating trips.

Encased in a durable resin case with a matching resin strap, this timepiece offers 100m water resistance, making it suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Its multifunctionality extends to a 1/100-second chronograph, a 24-hour timer, and dual time zones, catering to active lifestyles and travel. The watch also boasts a convenient LED backlight and an auto-calendar, ensuring readability and ease of use in various conditions.

The Casio WS-1700H-8AVCF positions itself as a highly functional digital timepiece for the active individual, particularly those drawn to marine environments. Its core appeal lies in its dedicated tide graph and moon phase complications, which provide practical utility for fishing, boating, and coastal activities. This model embodies Casio's commitment to robust, feature-rich watches that deliver reliable performance without compromise.

Technically, the watch is powered by a dependable quartz movement, ensuring accuracy and minimal maintenance. The 100m water resistance, coupled with a durable resin case and crystal, makes it a resilient companion for various outdoor adventures. Beyond its marine-specific features, the integrated 1/100-second chronograph and 24-hour timer enhance its versatility for general sports and daily timekeeping.

One might note that while the 100m water resistance is ample for surface water sports, it does not meet the ISO 6425 standard for professional diving, which some dedicated marine enthusiasts might seek. The digital display, while clear and functional, lacks the traditional aesthetic appeal of an analog watch, which could be a consideration for those who prefer classic watchmaking.

Overall, the WS-1700H-8AVCF is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a practical, durable, and feature-packed digital watch for outdoor and marine use. Its 10-year battery life further solidifies its position as a low-maintenance, high-value proposition. For those prioritising specific dive certifications or a more traditional look, alternatives in the analog dive watch segment might be explored.
