Casio MTP-S110-1AV, 42mm, Black Dial, Black Resin Strap

The Casio MTP-S110-1AVCF is a robust and stylish solar-powered diver-style watch designed for everyday wear and light water activities. This model combines a classic diver-inspired aesthetic with the practical benefits of Casio's solar-recharging system, ensuring reliable operation without the need for frequent battery replacements.

Encased in a durable 42mm stainless steel case with a slim 10.9mm profile, it offers a comfortable fit that easily slides under shirt cuffs. The watch features a striking black sunburst dial with applied markers and luminous hands, protected by a resilient mineral glass, providing excellent readability in various lighting conditions.

With a water resistance of 100 metres, the MTP-S110-1AVCF is well-suited for swimming and snorkelling, making it an ideal companion for those seeking a dependable and low-maintenance timepiece. Its resin band adds to its sport-casual appeal, perfect for both office and outdoor settings.

The Casio MTP-S110-1AV is an accessible entry into the world of solar-powered dive-inspired watches, appealing to those who appreciate a blend of classic aesthetics and modern, low-maintenance technology. Launched in 2019, this model from Casio's general collection offers a robust build and reliable performance, making it a strong contender for daily wearers and casual adventurers alike. Its design cues clearly draw from traditional dive watches, providing a sporty yet versatile look without the premium price tag often associated with ISO-certified divers.

A key technical highlight is the Casio Module 5272 solar movement, which efficiently converts light into energy, effectively eliminating the need for battery replacements. This solar-recharging system is a significant convenience, ensuring the watch remains operational through various indoor and outdoor lighting conditions. The watch also features a clear black sunburst dial with luminous hands and applied markers, protected by a durable mineral glass, offering excellent legibility in low-light environments, a crucial feature for any watch with dive aspirations.

While the MTP-S110-1AV boasts a respectable 100-metre water resistance, it is important to note that it is not an ISO 6425 certified dive watch. This means it is suitable for swimming and snorkelling but not recommended for professional scuba diving, where more stringent standards apply. The resin band, while durable and comfortable, might not appeal to everyone seeking a more premium feel, and its fixed lug width limits strap customisation options.

For individuals seeking a reliable, stylish, and eco-friendly timepiece for everyday use and light water activities, the Casio MTP-S110-1AV presents an excellent value proposition. Those requiring a true professional dive instrument might consider alternatives with higher water resistance ratings and ISO certification, such as models from Seiko's Prospex line or Citizen's Promaster series, though these would typically come at a higher price point.
