All our watch size dataDescription
The U680 calibre at the heart of this Navihawk provides atomic clock synchronisation for superior accuracy. This solar-powered movement, part of Citizen's Eco-Drive technology, draws power from any light source, ensuring reliable operation without the need for battery replacements. It's a set-and-forget system for the global traveller.
Its stainless steel case measures a substantial 48mm, creating a commanding presence on the wrist. The complex black dial is protected by a mineral crystal and features both analogue hands and dual digital displays, presenting a wealth of information at a glance. A pilot's rotating slide rule bezel frames the dial, offering a functional tool for flight calculations.
Despite its complexity, the watch is built for real-world use, offering a water resistance rating across 200 metres. The durable polyurethane strap is comfortable for extended wear and secures the large case effectively. This combination of advanced technology and robust construction defines the Promaster series.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Citizen Promaster Navihawk suitable for daily wear and water activities?
Yes, the Citizen Promaster Navihawk JY8035-04E is designed for daily wear and is highly suitable for water activities with its 200 metres water resistance. This means it can withstand swimming, snorkelling, and even recreational diving, making it a versatile companion for various adventures.
How does the Eco-Drive technology work and what is its battery life?
The Citizen Promaster Navihawk features Eco-Drive technology, which converts any light source into energy, storing it in a power cell. This eliminates the need for traditional battery replacements. Once fully charged, the watch can run for several months in total darkness, ensuring reliable operation.
What are the key functions of the atomic timekeeping feature?
The atomic timekeeping technology in the Promaster Navihawk JY8035-04E automatically synchronises with atomic clocks in 43 world cities. This ensures the watch always displays the precise time, adjusting for daylight saving and time zones, which is crucial for pilots and international travellers.
What makes the Promaster Navihawk a pilot-inspired watch?
The Promaster Navihawk is pilot-inspired through its robust design, atomic timekeeping, and multiple functions like a 1/100 second chronograph and dual time zones. These features are essential for aviation professionals, providing critical information and precision needed for flight planning and navigation.
What wrist sizes is the 48mm case suitable for?
With its substantial 48mm case diameter, the Citizen Promaster Navihawk JY8035-04E is best suited for medium to larger wrist sizes, typically ranging from 7 to 8.5 inches (18-21.5 cm). While personal preference varies, this size ensures a comfortable fit and prominent presence on the wrist.
Editor's take
This Navihawk is for the user who values absolute precision and a dense data display. Its radio-controlled U680 calibre ensures perpetual accuracy by synchronising with atomic clocks, making it a reliable instrument for pilots and international travellers who need dependable world time functions.
Functionality is powered by Citizen's Eco-Drive system, converting light into energy and removing concern over battery life. The case is a robust block of Stainless Steel with a black ion-plated bezel, providing a durable housing for the intricate movement. The dial is a busy but organised landscape of analogue and digital readouts.
One must consider the material choices. The dial is covered by a Mineral Crystal, which offers good impact resistance but is more prone to scratching than sapphire. The 48mm case diameter and non-standard 23mm lug width mean it wears large and limits strap options, suiting it best to those with larger wrists who are content with the stock band.
For the enthusiast seeking a feature-packed quartz watch, the Promaster Navihawk JY8035-04E is a strong contender. It delivers a suite of complications in a rugged package. If the large case size fits and the material choices are acceptable, it is a formidable and capable modern tool watch.
