Will it fit your wrist?
Best on 18.0–19.0 cm (7.1–7.5 in) wrists
A 43 mm case sits just right on these wrists. If your wrist is 19.0–20.0 cm, it looks smaller and more understated. If your wrist is 17.0–18.0 cm, it looks bigger and bolder.

All our watch size dataDescription
The 43mm stainless steel case provides a substantial presence on the wrist, suitable for those who prefer a larger field watch format. Its brushed finish resists daily scuffs, maintaining a tool-watch appearance that is both functional and direct. The overall construction feels solid and purposeful.
Legibility is the primary focus of the dial design. The stark white Arabic numerals and hands stand out against the matte black dial surface, ensuring quick time-telling in various lighting conditions. This entire assembly is protected by a sapphire crystal, a material choice that offers superior scratch resistance over mineral glass.
Inside, a dependable quartz movement provides excellent accuracy and requires minimal maintenance, a practical choice for a grab-and-go timepiece. The watch is secured by a durable black rubber strap with a 20mm lug width, offering comfort and resilience against moisture and wear.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Timex Expedition North TW2V96300 suitable for daily swimming and showering?
The Timex Expedition North TW2V96300 features 100 metres of water resistance, making it suitable for recreational swimming and snorkelling. However, it is generally not recommended for showering, as hot water and soap can compromise the seals over time.
What type of movement powers this Timex chronograph?
This Expedition North model is powered by a reliable quartz movement. This ensures precise timekeeping and low maintenance, as it does not require manual winding or continuous wear to operate.
How does the sapphire glass benefit the watch's durability?
The sapphire glass on the Timex Expedition North TW2V96300 offers exceptional scratch resistance, far superior to mineral crystal. This makes the watch face highly durable and helps maintain its clear appearance even with regular use in rugged environments.
Who is this Timex Expedition North watch best suited for?
The Timex Expedition North TW2V96300 is ideal for men seeking a robust and functional field chronograph. Its durable construction, 100m water resistance, and clear dial make it suitable for outdoor activities, casual wear, and those who appreciate a classic, utilitarian aesthetic.
Can I replace the rubber strap with a different type of band?
Yes, the Timex Expedition North TW2V96300 has a lug width of 20mm, which means you can easily replace the black rubber strap with a variety of other 20mm watch bands, such as leather, NATO, or canvas, to customise its look.
How does this model compare to other field watches in its price range?
The Timex Expedition North TW2V96300 stands out with its combination of a quartz chronograph, sapphire glass, and 100m water resistance at an accessible price point. Many alternatives might offer one or two of these features but rarely all three, making it a strong value proposition for a durable field watch.
Editor's take
The Timex Expedition TW2V96300QY is aimed squarely at the user who values function, durability, and legibility above all else. It is a modern field watch for someone who needs a reliable timepiece for outdoor activities or daily tasks without the maintenance demands of a mechanical movement.
What stands out is the inclusion of a Sapphire Crystal on a watch at this accessible tier. Paired with a robust Stainless Steel case construction and a water resistance rating across 100 metres, it presents a specification sheet that is highly practical. The build feels solid, though the 250-gram weight is considerable and should be noted by prospective buyers.
The choice of a quartz movement is the central trade-off. While it guarantees set-it-and-forget-it accuracy and a level of shock resistance that many mechanical calibres cannot easily match, it lacks the sweeping seconds hand and intricate engineering that draws many enthusiasts to horology. This is a tool, not a mechanical heirloom.
For a tough, no-nonsense watch with superior scratch resistance and a clear, functional display, this Expedition is a strong contender. The integrated Rubber strap is comfortable and practical for all-weather use. It is a highly capable daily driver for those who prioritise performance over the romance of a mainspring.
