Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Casio Illuminator W737HX-1AV suitable for daily wear and swimming?
Yes, the Casio Illuminator W737HX-1AV is designed for daily wear and features 100m water resistance, making it perfectly suitable for swimming and snorkeling. However, it's not recommended for scuba diving.
What is the battery life of this Casio digital watch?
The Casio Illuminator W737HX-1AV boasts an impressive 10-year battery life, significantly reducing the frequency of battery changes. This makes it a very low-maintenance option for users.
How does this model compare to other Casio sport watches in a similar price range?
The W737HX-1AV stands out with its 10-year battery life and LED Illuminator, offering excellent value for its price. While other models might offer different features like solar power or advanced sensors, this watch focuses on core digital functionality and extreme durability, making it a strong alternative for those prioritizing longevity and simplicity.
Who is this Casio Illuminator watch best suitable for?
This watch is ideal for men seeking a rugged, functional, and low-maintenance timepiece for sport activities, outdoor adventures, or demanding work environments. Its digital display and robust resin construction cater to a practical user.
Can I wear the Casio Illuminator W737HX-1AV in the shower?
While the watch has 100m water resistance, it's generally advisable to avoid wearing any watch in the shower due to potential issues with steam and soap affecting the seals over time. It's best for swimming and surface water activities.
What is the recommended wrist size for this 46mm watch?

Editor's take
The Casio Illuminator W737HX-1AV positions itself as an accessible and highly functional digital timepiece, catering to men who prioritize ruggedness and utility over traditional aesthetics. Part of the W737HX series, this model embodies Casio's commitment to practical, everyday watches that deliver reliable performance without compromise. It's an ideal choice for active individuals or those seeking a dependable secondary watch for demanding environments.
At its core, the W737HX-1AV features a robust quartz movement housed within a 46mm resin case, ensuring both accuracy and resilience. Its standout technical specifications include an impressive 100m water resistance, making it suitable for swimming and recreational diving, and a remarkable 10-year battery life that significantly reduces the need for frequent maintenance. The integrated LED Illuminator provides excellent visibility in low-light conditions, enhancing its utility.
While the Casio Illuminator W737HX-1AV excels in durability and functionality, its all-resin construction and digital display might not appeal to those seeking a more refined or traditional analog watch. The resin glass, while shatter-resistant, is more prone to scratches than sapphire or mineral crystal, which is a common trade-off in this price segment. Furthermore, its larger 46mm case size might feel substantial on smaller wrists.
For individuals who value a no-nonsense, highly durable, and low-maintenance watch for sports, outdoor activities, or demanding work environments, the W737HX-1AV is an excellent contender. However, if a more elegant aesthetic or superior scratch resistance is a priority, exploring entry-level analog sport watches with mineral glass or even some G-Shock models for enhanced protection might be a more suitable alternative.
