The Citizen BI5017-50E offers a straightforward, reliable timekeeping solution for the everyday man. As part of Citizen's accessible quartz lineup, this model embodies a classic aesthetic, making it a versatile choice for various casual and semi-formal settings. It's designed for those who appreciate simplicity and the dependable accuracy of a Japanese quartz movement without unnecessary frills.
At its core, the BI5017-50E features a robust 40mm stainless steel case paired with a durable mineral crystal, providing adequate protection for daily wear. The three-hand display ensures clear legibility against the black dial. Its 50-meter water resistance rating means it can handle splashes and brief recreational swimming, adding to its practical appeal for active lifestyles.
While the mineral crystal offers good scratch resistance for its price point, it is not as resilient as sapphire, which might be a consideration for those seeking maximum durability against impacts. Furthermore, the 50m water resistance, while suitable for swimming, does not extend to diving or snorkeling, limiting its utility for serious water sports enthusiasts.
This Citizen model is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a dependable, low-maintenance watch for daily wear or as a first entry into classic watch ownership. Its timeless design and reliable quartz accuracy make it a strong contender against other entry-level quartz watches, offering solid value for its segment.
