Editor's take
The Sekonda Glide 1663.27 presents itself as a straightforward and accessible timepiece, catering to the everyday needs of a broad male audience. As part of Sekonda's commitment to delivering reliable watches at an attractive price point, this model offers a no-fuss approach to timekeeping. It's an ideal choice for those seeking a dependable daily companion without excessive complications or a premium cost.
Powering the Glide 1663.27 is a robust Japanese quartz movement, known for its accuracy and minimal maintenance requirements. Encased in a 40mm stainless steel case, it features a clear mineral glass protecting its matte black dial. The watch boasts a practical 30-meter water resistance, making it suitable for daily splashes and handwashing, aligning with its casual-to-smart versatility.
While the 30-meter water resistance is adequate for daily life, it's important to note that this watch is not designed for swimming or showering, which might be a limitation for more active users. The lack of advanced features like a screw-down crown or higher water resistance means it's firmly positioned as a casual and dress-oriented piece, rather than a sports instrument.
Ultimately, the Sekonda Glide 1663.27 is recommended for individuals who appreciate classic aesthetics and reliable functionality in a budget-friendly package. Its simple day/date display and comfortable stainless steel bracelet make it a solid choice for office wear or weekend outings. For those requiring more robust water protection or advanced horological features, exploring dedicated dive or sport watches would be a more suitable alternative.
