Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Citizen Avion AW1361-10H suitable for swimming or showering?
The Citizen Avion AW1361-10H offers 100 metres of water resistance, making it suitable for recreational swimming and snorkelling. However, it is generally not recommended for showering, as hot water and soap can compromise the seals over time.
How does the Eco-Drive movement work in this Citizen watch?
The Citizen Avion AW1361-10H features Citizen's proprietary Eco-Drive technology, which converts any light source, natural or artificial, into energy. This energy is stored in a power cell, allowing the watch to run continuously without ever needing a battery replacement, offering reliable timekeeping.
What is the ideal wrist size for the Citizen Avion AW1361-10H?
With its 45mm case diameter, the Citizen Avion AW1361-10H is designed for men with average to larger wrist sizes, typically ranging from 7 to 8.5 inches. The 22mm lug width also allows for comfortable wear and good proportions on the wrist.
How does this watch compare to other casual watches in its price range?
The Citizen Avion AW1361-10H stands out with its Eco-Drive solar movement, eliminating battery changes, and its robust 100m water resistance. Many alternatives in this price range might offer standard quartz movements or lower water resistance, making the Avion a strong contender for daily reliability and convenience.
What kind of maintenance does a solar-powered watch like this require?
A solar-powered watch like the Citizen Avion AW1361-10H requires minimal maintenance. Simply ensure it is regularly exposed to light to keep its power cell charged. Periodic cleaning of the case and crystal, along with occasional strap replacement, will keep it in good condition for daily use.
Editor's take
The Citizen Avion AW1361-10H represents a compelling entry into the field watch aesthetic, offering a blend of rugged utility and everyday wearability. This model, part of Citizen's popular Avion collection, is designed for the modern man who values reliability and a classic, legible dial without compromising on contemporary technology.
Central to its appeal is the Eco-Drive technology, a signature of Citizen, which powers the Japanese quartz movement using any light source. This eliminates the need for battery changes, offering unparalleled convenience. The watch features a robust 45mm stainless steel case and a durable mineral crystal, providing 100m of water resistance suitable for daily activities.
While the mineral crystal is robust for general use, it is more prone to scratches compared to sapphire, which might be a consideration for those in demanding environments. The 22mm lug width, however, allows for easy customisation with a wide array of aftermarket straps, enhancing its versatility.
This Citizen Avion is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a dependable, low-maintenance daily driver with a clear, functional design. It stands as a strong contender for those who appreciate the blend of traditional pilot watch cues and modern, eco-friendly watchmaking.
