Will it fit your wrist?
Best on 17.5–18.5 cm (6.9–7.3 in) wrists
A 42 mm case sits just right on these wrists. If your wrist is 18.5–19.5 cm, it looks smaller and more understated. If your wrist is 16.5–17.5 cm, it looks bigger and bolder.

All our watch size dataDescription
The GL224 automatic calibre provides the reliable timekeeping at the heart of this Combat Sub Sport. This Swiss-made movement is housed within a capable 42mm stainless steel case, a size that provides considerable presence on the wrist without feeling oversized for most.
Legibility is delivered through a clean black dial, protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The unidirectional bezel, also in black, frames the dial and provides a classic tool watch utility, while the strong dial colour proposition maintains a low-profile aesthetic.
Paired with a flexible black silicone strap, the watch is secured for active use and offers comfort straight out of the box. This combination of a robust case and a practical strap makes it a versatile choice for everyday situations. The standard 22mm lug width also allows for easy customisation with other strap options.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I swim or shower whilst wearing the Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326?
The Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326 is designated as "Waterproof." While this implies resistance to water splashes and brief immersion, without a specific depth rating in metres, it's advisable to avoid prolonged swimming, diving, or showering to prevent potential water ingress.
Is the Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326 suitable for daily sports activities?
Yes, the Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326 is designed as a sport watch with a robust 42mm stainless steel case and an automatic movement. Its durable construction makes it suitable for most daily activities and light sports, but it is not specifically rated for extreme impact sports.
How does the Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326 compare to other automatic sport watches?
The Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326 stands out with its classic design, Swiss heritage, and reliable automatic movement at an accessible price point. While some competitors might offer sapphire glass or higher water resistance, this model provides a solid, well-built option for everyday wear.
What maintenance does an automatic watch like the Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326 require?
Automatic watches, including the Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326, typically require periodic servicing every 3-5 years to ensure optimal performance. This involves cleaning, lubricating, and regulating the automatic movement. Regular wear keeps the watch wound, but a watch winder can be used for extended periods of non-wear.
What wrist size is suitable for the 42mm Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326?
With its 42mm stainless steel case and 22mm lug width, the Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42 GL0326 generally fits medium to larger wrists well. It is typically comfortable for wrist circumferences ranging from approximately 6.5 to 8 inches, offering a prominent but balanced presence.
What does the "Waterproof" designation mean for this Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42?
For the Glycine Combat Sub Sport 42, "Waterproof" indicates a basic level of water resistance, protecting against splashes and rain. However, without a specific depth rating (e.g., 50m, 100m), it is not recommended for activities like swimming, snorkelling, or diving, where water pressure is significant.
Editor's take
This Glycine is for a wearer seeking the aesthetic of a military watch with the reliability of a Swiss automatic. The GL224 calibre is a proven workhorse, offering dependable performance. It is a watch for someone who values mechanical integrity and a tactical look.
Construction is a strong point. The case is milled from Stainless Steel with brushed and polished surfaces that give it a tool-like appearance. Capping the dial is a flat Sapphire Crystal, a material providing superior scratch resistance over mineral glass often found at this price.
A significant consideration is the stated water resistance. The 'Sub' name implies dive capability, yet the specifications list a zero-metre rating. This makes the watch unsuitable for any water activities, including swimming. The Silicone strap is sporty, but its utility is confined to dry land.
Ultimately, the GL0326 presents a contradiction. It has a robust build and a respected automatic movement in a classic form. For the enthusiast who appreciates the Combat Sub design for its looks and has no need for water resistance, it is a sound choice. The 22mm lug width enhances its versatility, provided its limits are understood.
