Editor's take
The Ravel Children's R1513.32B is a charming entry-level timepiece designed with a singular focus: to make learning to tell time an enjoyable experience for young children. Positioned as a fun and functional accessory, it targets parents seeking a durable and engaging first watch for their little ones, particularly those with an affinity for football.
At its core, this Ravel watch features a reliable quartz movement, ensuring accurate timekeeping without the need for winding, which is ideal for a child's first watch. The 27mm silver-tone plastic case and plastic glass are chosen for their resilience against bumps and drops, common in a child's active day. Its white educational dial is a standout, clearly marked with "PAST", "HALF", and "TO" sections, complemented by distinct coloured hands to simplify hour, minute, and second differentiation.
While excellent for its intended purpose, it's important to note that the R1513.32B is only "Moisture Resistant" or "splash-proof". This means it is not suitable for swimming or showering, and care should be taken to avoid prolonged water exposure. It is a learning tool and a fun accessory, not a robust sports instrument for serious aquatic activities.
This watch is highly recommended for parents looking for an affordable, durable, and genuinely helpful tool to teach time to children aged 3 to 8. Its playful design makes it an appealing gift, and its focus on education sets it apart from purely decorative children's watches. For those seeking a more rugged or water-ready option, exploring other dedicated kids' sports watches might be a better alternative.
