Description
The Swarovski Sublima is a compact bangle watch for women who want a slim, jewellery-like piece on the wrist. It pairs a round silver dial with a metal bracelet and a foldover clasp, giving it a clean and understated look.
Inside the 28mm stainless steel case sits a Swiss quartz movement with an analogue display. The crystal is mineral glass, the case is 7mm thick, and water resistance is rated at 51 metres, which suits splashes and everyday wear.
The bracelet is only a quarter inch wide and fits wrists from roughly 5 1/8 to 7 1/4 inches. At 34 grams it stays light, so it works as an easy daily piece that sits comfortably under a cuff or sleeve.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I wear the Swarovski Sublima in the shower?
It is rated to 51 m, which handles splashes, hand-washing and rain well. Hot water, steam and soap can still wear down gaskets over time, so most owners take it off for showers and swimming. Treat it as a daily watch for dry or lightly wet conditions.
Will this fit a small wrist?
The Sublima has a 28mm case and a bracelet that wears from about 5 1/8 to 7 1/4 inches, which covers small to medium wrists. The slim quarter-inch band sits close to the skin. If your wrist is larger than 7 1/4 inches, a different bracelet length would be needed.
Is it suitable for everyday office wear?
Yes, the slim 7mm case and light 34 gram weight make it comfortable all day, and the silver dial and metal bracelet pair easily with work outfits. It slides under most sleeves. For a very active job, though, a sturdier sport watch is a better fit.
How does the Sublima differ from a standard dress watch?
It is a bangle design, so the metal bracelet and compact case work as jewellery as much as a timepiece. Compared with a typical dress watch on a leather strap, it offers less strap flexibility but a more integrated look. Choose a classic strap watch if you want to swap bands.
What kind of service does it need?
The Swiss quartz movement runs on a battery, so the main upkeep is a battery change every few years, usually done by a watchmaker who can reseal the case. Wipe the bracelet with a soft cloth after wear. Avoid harsh chemicals on the mineral glass.
Does the mineral glass scratch easily?
Mineral glass resists everyday wear well but scratches more easily than sapphire. Keeping the Sublima away from rough surfaces and stored apart from other jewellery helps it stay clear. A sapphire watch is the alternative if you work with your hands often.
Editor's take
Swarovski's Sublima sits in the fashion-jewellery end of Swiss watchmaking, aimed at women who want a slim bangle on the wrist that also tells the time. The round silver dial and metal bracelet keep the look restrained, and the Swiss Made label gives it a more serious footing than most jewellery-brand watches.
The heart of it is a Swiss quartz movement, which suits a watch this slim far better than a mechanical calibre would. The stainless steel case measures 28mm across and 7mm thick, and the mineral glass keeps the cost sensible, though it will pick up scratches more readily than sapphire.
The obvious limit is 51 m water resistance. That is fine for hand-washing and rain, but I would take it off for swimming or showering. The foldover clasp is tidy and secure, yet the narrow quarter-inch bracelet leaves little room to adjust the look with other straps.
I would recommend it to anyone wanting a light, dressy watch for office and evenings, with a wearable range of roughly 5 1/8 to 7 1/4 inches. If you want sturdier daily kit, look at a sapphire-crystal quartz piece from a mainstream watch brand in the same price band, such as a sapphire model.
