Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Invicta 0383 suitable for daily swimming and showering?
The Invicta 0383 features 100 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for recreational swimming and snorkeling. However, it is generally not recommended for showering, as hot water and soap can compromise the seals over time, reducing its long-term water resistance.
What type of movement powers this Invicta Specialty watch?
This Invicta 0383 watch is powered by a reliable Swiss quartz movement. This ensures accurate timekeeping with minimal maintenance, as it does not require manual winding or regular wear to keep it running.
How does the flame-fusion crystal compare to sapphire glass?
The flame-fusion crystal on the Invicta 0383 offers good scratch resistance and is generally more shatter-resistant than sapphire. While sapphire is harder and more scratch-proof, flame-fusion provides a durable and cost-effective alternative for everyday wear.
Is the 48mm case size of the Invicta 0383 suitable for all wrist sizes?
The Invicta 0383 features a substantial 48mm case, which is considered large for a watch. It is best suited for individuals with medium to large wrist sizes (typically 7 inches and above) who prefer a bold and prominent timepiece. For smaller wrists, it might feel oversized.
What are the functions of the subdials on the Invicta 0383?
The Invicta 0383 includes two functional subdials. One displays the 24-hour time, which can be useful for tracking military time or a second time zone. The other subdial indicates the month, adding a practical calendar complication to the watch's features.
What kind of maintenance does a quartz watch like the Invicta 0383 require?
A quartz watch like the Invicta 0383 primarily requires battery replacement every few years, depending on usage. Beyond that, occasional cleaning and checking the water resistance seals during battery changes are generally sufficient to maintain its performance.
Editor's take
The Invicta 0383 Specialty positions itself as an accessible yet bold statement piece for individuals seeking a robust everyday timepiece. Its substantial 48mm case size and distinctive design elements cater to those who prefer their watch to have a noticeable presence. This model, launched in 2010, embodies Invicta's philosophy of offering feature-rich watches at competitive price points.
Underneath its striking exterior, the 0383 is equipped with a reliable Swiss quartz movement, ensuring precise and low-maintenance timekeeping. The use of a flame-fusion crystal provides a good balance of scratch resistance and shatter protection, a practical choice for a sport-oriented watch. With a water resistance of 100 meters, it is well-suited for recreational swimming and snorkeling, adding to its versatility.
One potential drawback for some users might be the watch's considerable 48mm case diameter, which could feel overly large on smaller wrists. While its bold aesthetic is a key selling point, it might not appeal to those who prefer more understated or classic proportions. Additionally, the non-chronograph subdials, while functional for 24-hour and month tracking, might be mistaken for a chronograph by some, which could lead to minor disappointment.
Ultimately, the Invicta 0383 is recommended for individuals who appreciate a large, eye-catching watch with solid build quality and practical features for daily wear and light water activities. It's a strong contender for those seeking a durable, affordable, and visually impactful timepiece, perhaps as an alternative to more expensive sport watches that offer similar water resistance and quartz reliability.
