Editor's take
The Invicta 21657 presents itself as a robust and accessible option for men seeking a functional sport watch with a classic aesthetic. Part of Invicta's extensive lineup, this model emphasizes durability and utility, making it a suitable companion for daily wear and various recreational pursuits. It aims to deliver a substantial wrist presence without an exorbitant price tag.
Powering this timepiece is a reliable Japanese quartz VD54 caliber movement, known for its precision and low maintenance. The watch features a generously sized 44mm stainless steel case and a matching stainless steel bracelet, ensuring a sturdy build. Protecting the silver dial is Invicta's proprietary Flame Fusion crystal, which offers enhanced shatter resistance compared to standard mineral glass.
While the 21657 boasts 100 meters of water resistance, it is crucial to note that the manufacturer explicitly states it is "not suitable for diving." This rating makes it perfectly adequate for swimming and snorkeling, but serious underwater activities require a dedicated dive watch with ISO 6425 certification. The push/pull crown, rather than a screw-down type, also reinforces its recreational water use limitation.
For the individual who values a bold, functional chronograph for everyday adventures and casual water sports, the Invicta 21657 is a compelling choice. Its three functional subdials add practical timing capabilities, making it a versatile tool. Those requiring professional diving capabilities or a more refined finish might consider alternatives from brands like Citizen or Seiko within a similar price bracket.
