Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Sekonda Jones 1440.27 suitable for daily wear and sports activities?
Yes, the Sekonda Jones 1440.27 is designed for versatile daily wear, offering a blend of formal and casual appeal. Its 50m water resistance makes it suitable for everyday splashes and rain, but it is not recommended for swimming or high-impact sports where it might be submerged.
What is the difference between this Sekonda model and other watches in its price range?
The Sekonda Jones 1440.27 stands out with its British-designed aesthetic, reliable Japanese quartz movement, and practical day/date display, all at an affordable price. Many alternatives might offer similar features but often lack the refined styling or the brand's reputation for value.
How often does the battery need to be replaced in the Sekonda Jones 1440.27?
The Sekonda Jones 1440.27 is powered by a 377 (SR626SW) silver oxide cell, which typically offers a battery life of up to 2 years. Battery replacement is generally simple and inexpensive, and it's recommended to have it done by a professional to maintain water resistance.
Is the mineral glass on this watch prone to scratches during daily use?
The Sekonda Jones 1440.27 features a mineral glass lens, which provides good resistance against minor scratches and impacts from daily wear. While it's more durable than acrylic, it is not as scratch-resistant as sapphire crystal, so care should still be taken to avoid harsh surfaces.
What wrist sizes can the Sekonda Jones 1440.27 accommodate?
The Sekonda Jones 1440.27 comes with a stainless steel bracelet that can be adjusted to fit wrist circumferences ranging from 14cm to 21cm. This is achieved through removable links, allowing for a comfortable and secure fit for a wide range of wrist sizes.
Editor's take
The Sekonda Jones 1440.27 positions itself as an accessible and stylish everyday timepiece, perfectly suited for the modern gentleman who values both aesthetics and practicality. This model, part of Sekonda's commitment to affordable quality, offers a clean, versatile design that can effortlessly complement various wardrobes, from business casual to weekend attire. It's a straightforward, no-fuss watch designed for consistent performance.
Underneath its elegant exterior, the Jones 1440.27 relies on a robust Japanese quartz movement, ensuring reliable and accurate timekeeping without the need for daily winding. The 40mm stainless steel case provides a comfortable presence on the wrist, while the mineral glass offers a good balance of clarity and everyday scratch resistance. Its 50m water resistance rating means it can handle daily splashes and rain, adding to its utility as a practical daily companion.
While the Sekonda Jones 1440.27 excels as a dependable daily wearer, its 50m water resistance means it is not suitable for swimming or diving. Those seeking a watch for more rigorous water activities would need to consider models with a higher water resistance rating, typically 100m or more, and often a screw-down crown. The mineral crystal, while durable, is also more prone to deep scratches than sapphire alternatives.
Ultimately, the Sekonda Jones 1440.27 is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a stylish, low-maintenance watch for daily wear. Its classic blue dial and stainless steel construction make it a versatile accessory. For those prioritizing advanced horological features or extreme durability, exploring options like a diver's watch or a field watch with a mechanical movement might be a better alternative.
