Editor's take
The Citizen Stormtrooper AW1659-00W is a playful yet robust timepiece that perfectly captures the essence of the Galactic Empire's elite forces, making it a compelling choice for Star Wars aficionados. This watch, part of Citizen's themed collaborations, offers a unique blend of fandom and practical horology. It's designed for those who appreciate a watch with character and a reliable, low-maintenance power source.
At its core, the AW1659-00W is powered by Citizen's proprietary Eco-Drive solar movement, a testament to sustainable watchmaking that ensures the watch never needs a battery replacement. Encased in a 44mm stainless steel body and protected by a mineral crystal, it offers a solid build for daily wear. The 100m water resistance further enhances its versatility, allowing for worry-free use in various environments.
While the themed dial and luminous Stormtrooper helmets are undoubtedly a highlight, the choice of a mineral crystal over sapphire might be a point of consideration for some. Sapphire offers superior scratch resistance, which could be preferred for a watch intended for active, daily use. However, the polyurethane strap provides a comfortable and durable option for casual wear.
Ultimately, the Citizen Stormtrooper AW1659-00W is an excellent choice for Star Wars fans seeking a distinctive and reliable daily watch. Its Eco-Drive technology and robust construction make it a practical accessory, while its unique design ensures it stands out. For those not tied to the theme, other Citizen Eco-Drive models offer similar functionality with more traditional aesthetics.
