Description
The Aviator's 49mm case diameter establishes an immediate and significant presence on the wrist. Its design pulls from classic pilot watch cues, with a large crown and a focus on clear time-telling. This is a watch built for visibility and function.
A gold-tone finish is applied to the stainless steel case, providing a warm look. The dial is protected by Invicta's Flame Fusion crystal, which bonds a layer of sapphire over a mineral glass core. This construction offers increased scratch resistance over standard mineral glass, and 100 metres of water resistance allows for surface swimming.
Inside, timekeeping is managed by a TMI PC32 quartz movement, a reliable and low-maintenance calibre from Seiko Instruments. The expansive gold dial serves as a clean backdrop for the large, luminous hands and hour markers, ensuring that a quick glance is all that is needed to read the time.
Securing the watch is a 26mm white silicone strap, offering a comfortable fit that helps manage the watch's considerable mass. The stark white colour creates a bold counterpoint to the gold case, completing a design that is both sporty and declarative.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Invicta Aviator 37636 suitable for daily swimming or showering?
The Invicta Aviator 37636 offers 100 metres of water resistance, making it suitable for recreational swimming and showering. However, it is not designed for professional diving or prolonged submersion at significant depths. Always ensure the crown is pushed in before any water exposure.
What makes the Invicta Aviator 37636 different from other sports watches in its price range?
The Invicta Aviator 37636 stands out with its bold 49mm steel case and unique gold dial, offering a distinctive aesthetic. While many sports watches focus on minimalist designs, this model combines robust construction with a striking visual presence, appealing to those who prefer a more expressive timepiece for daily wear.
What type of movement powers the Invicta Aviator 37636?
The Invicta Aviator 37636 is powered by a precise quartz movement. This type of movement is known for its accuracy and low maintenance requirements, as it relies on a battery and a vibrating quartz crystal to keep time, eliminating the need for manual winding or regular wear.
How should I care for the silicone band of my Invicta Aviator watch?
To maintain the silicone band of your Invicta Aviator 37636, regularly clean it with mild soap and water to remove dirt and oils. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can damage the silicone. Allowing it to air dry completely after cleaning will help prolong its lifespan and keep it looking fresh for daily use.
Is the 49mm case size of this watch suitable for all wrist sizes?
The 49mm case size of the Invicta Aviator 37636 is quite substantial and designed for a bold look. While it can be worn on various wrist sizes, it typically best suits larger wrists (around 7 inches or more) to ensure comfort and proper proportion. Individuals with smaller wrists might find it feels oversized.
Editor's take
The Invicta Aviator 37636 is for the collector who prioritises bold wrist presence. With a 49mm case, this is not a subtle timepiece; it is designed to be seen. Its accessible price point and reliable quartz engine make it an entry into large-format watches for those who find the aesthetic appealing.
This watch's defining trait is its unapologetic scale and colour. The gold-tone case and bright white silicone strap create a high-contrast look that is more fashion-forward than a traditional pilot's tool. The design is powered by the workhorse TMI PC32 quartz calibre, ensuring it functions as a dependable timekeeper.
A notable specification is the Flame Fusion crystal. While this material offers better scratch resistance than mineral glass, it does not have the hardness of a true sapphire crystal. Additionally, the watch's weight is substantial at over 300 grams, a factor potential buyers should consider for daily wear comfort.
For the buyer seeking an oversized, high-impact watch without a major financial outlay, this Aviator model delivers. It executes a specific look, blending pilot watch dimensions with a loud colourway. It is a solid choice for those who understand its considerable 49mm size and material composition.
