Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Invicta Pro Diver 47179 suitable for actual diving?
No, despite its name, the Invicta Pro Diver 47179 is explicitly stated as not suitable for diving. Its 100m water resistance makes it ideal for recreational water sports like swimming, snorkelling, and sailing, but it lacks the certifications and features required for professional diving.
What type of movement does this Invicta Pro Diver watch use?
The Invicta Pro Diver 47179 is powered by a reliable Japanese quartz movement, specifically the PC32 calibre. This ensures accurate timekeeping and requires minimal maintenance compared to mechanical movements, making it a practical choice for daily wear.
How durable is the crystal on the Invicta Pro Diver 47179?
This Invicta Pro Diver model features a Flame Fusion Crystal, which is a proprietary blend designed for enhanced scratch resistance and durability. It offers better protection against everyday bumps and scrapes than standard mineral glass, contributing to the watch's longevity.
Can I wear the Invicta Pro Diver 47179 for daily activities and showering?
With its 100m water resistance and robust stainless steel construction, the Invicta Pro Diver 47179 is well-suited for daily wear and can withstand splashes, rain, and even swimming. However, it's generally recommended to avoid wearing any watch in the shower due to temperature changes and soap, which can compromise seals over time.
How does the 43mm case size of this watch fit on different wrist sizes?
The 43mm case size of the Invicta Pro Diver 47179 is a versatile dimension that typically fits a wide range of men's wrist sizes, from average to larger builds. It offers a noticeable presence without being overly bulky, making it a comfortable option for most users. For optimal fit, consider your wrist circumference.
Editor's take
The Invicta Pro Diver 47179 presents itself as an accessible and visually striking sport watch for men, drawing heavily on the popular diver aesthetic. Its robust 43mm stainless steel case and bracelet, paired with a bold black dial featuring clear Arabic numerals, ensure a commanding presence on the wrist. This model is designed for those who appreciate a classic, sporty look without the premium price tag often associated with professional dive watches.
Powering this timepiece is a reliable Japanese quartz movement, specifically the PC32 calibre, known for its accuracy and low maintenance requirements. The dial is protected by Invicta's proprietary Flame Fusion Crystal, offering enhanced scratch resistance compared to standard mineral glass. With a water resistance of 100 metres, the watch is well-suited for everyday wear and various recreational water activities.
Despite its "Pro Diver" designation, it's crucial to note that the 47179 is explicitly stated as "Not suitable for diving." This means it lacks the ISO 6425 certification and features required for professional underwater use. While it can handle swimming, snorkelling, and other surface water sports, serious divers should look for models with higher water resistance and dedicated dive functionalities.
Ultimately, the Invicta Pro Diver 47179 is an excellent choice for men seeking a durable, stylish, and affordable sport watch for daily wear and light aquatic adventures. It offers a strong visual appeal and reliable performance, making it a versatile option for casual enthusiasts. For those needing a true dive instrument, alternatives with higher water resistance and specialised features would be more appropriate.
