Editor's take
The Orient Kamasu RA-AA0004E39B represents an accessible yet highly capable entry into the world of mechanical diving watches. Positioned within Orient's popular sports collection, it caters to enthusiasts seeking a robust and stylish timepiece for both daily wear and aquatic adventures, embodying the brand's commitment to value and in-house manufacturing.
At its core, the Kamasu is powered by the reliable Orient F6922 automatic movement, which offers both hand-winding and hacking functionalities , features not always found in watches at this price point. Its 41.8mm stainless steel case is complemented by a durable sapphire crystal, a significant upgrade over mineral glass, ensuring excellent scratch resistance. The 200m water resistance and 120-click unidirectional bezel underscore its credentials as a true dive watch.
While the Kamasu offers impressive specifications for its category, it's important to note that its 200m water resistance, while substantial, is generally suitable for surface water sports and recreational diving, but not for saturation diving. The bracelet, while solid, might feel less refined compared to those on higher-end divers, though it remains perfectly functional.
