Editor's take
The Sekonda Bergen 1775 positions itself as an accessible and reliable everyday timepiece for the modern man. With its clean lines and classic aesthetic, it offers a versatile option that can transition seamlessly from casual wear to more formal settings, embodying a practical approach to watch ownership.
At its core, this model features a dependable Japanese quartz movement, known for its accuracy and low maintenance requirements, making it a hassle-free choice for daily wear. The 40mm stainless steel case provides a robust housing, complemented by a glass crystal that offers adequate protection for the black dial and its integrated date complication. Its 50m water resistance ensures it can handle daily splashes and brief immersion without concern.
While the Bergen 1775 excels in straightforward functionality and affordability, it's important to note that its glass crystal, while functional, may be more prone to scratches than sapphire alternatives found in higher-priced segments. The aluminium strap, though lightweight, might not offer the same premium feel or durability as a solid stainless steel bracelet.
This Sekonda Bergen is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a reliable, no-frills watch for daily use or as a first proper timepiece. For those prioritising scratch resistance or a more luxurious feel, exploring models with sapphire glass or solid link bracelets in a slightly higher price bracket might be a worthwhile alternative.
