The Sekonda Velocity Sports 30017 stands out with its British-designed aesthetic, robust 45mm stainless steel case, and practical chronograph, date, and tachymeter functions. Editor's take
The Sekonda Velocity Sports 30017 positions itself as an accessible yet stylish option for men seeking a functional chronograph. This model from the Velocity Sports line embodies a contemporary design, making it a versatile choice for both casual outings and more active pursuits. Its British-designed quality aims to deliver a premium feel without the associated high price tag.
Technically, the watch is powered by a reliable Japanese quartz movement, ensuring accuracy and minimal maintenance. Encased in a robust 45mm stainless steel case and protected by tempered glass, it offers a good balance of presence and durability. The inclusion of a chronograph, date window, and tachymeter scale provides genuinely useful features for everyday wear, enhancing its utility beyond simple time-telling.
However, the 50m water resistance, while adequate for splashes and handwashing, means this watch is not suitable for swimming or diving. Users seeking a timepiece for serious aquatic activities would need to consider alternatives with higher water resistance ratings. Additionally, the lack of explicit information on the number of chronograph subdials might leave some enthusiasts wanting more detail.
Ultimately, the Sekonda Velocity Sports 30017 is best suited for individuals who prioritise a stylish, feature-rich watch for daily wear and light activity. Its combination of a leather strap and deployment clasp offers comfort and security. For those needing greater water resistance or a more intricate mechanical movement, exploring dedicated dive watches or automatic chronographs in a similar price bracket would be advisable.
