All our watch size dataDescription
The Expedition series draws its design language from decades of military and outdoor timepieces. This model presents a clean, high-contrast white dial with bold Arabic numerals for immediate readability in varied conditions. The layout prioritises function, with a clear minute track and distinct handset.
Its 40mm case is rendered in a lightweight black resin, bringing the total weight to a scant 34 grams for exceptional comfort on the wrist. This practical construction is paired with a water resistance rating of 100 metres, sufficient for surface swimming and daily exposure to the elements.
Inside, a dependable quartz movement provides set-it-and-forget-it accuracy, a core tenet of a true field watch. The watch is secured by a durable black fabric strap that conforms easily to the wrist and can be swapped out thanks to the standard 20mm lug width.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Timex Expedition TW4B291006B suitable for daily swimming or showering?
Yes, the Timex Expedition TW4B291006B features 100m water resistance, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling. However, it is generally advised to avoid wearing any watch in the shower due to potential issues with steam and soap affecting seals over time.
What type of movement does this Timex Expedition watch use and how accurate is it?
This Timex Expedition watch is powered by a reliable quartz movement. Quartz movements are known for their high accuracy, typically deviating by only a few seconds per month, making them very dependable for daily timekeeping without the need for winding.
How does the acrylic crystal on this watch compare to other glass types?
The Timex Expedition TW4B291006B uses an acrylic crystal, which is highly shatter-resistant and can often be polished to remove minor scratches. While it's more prone to scratching than mineral or sapphire glass, its durability against impacts makes it a practical choice for an outdoor watch.
Is the fabric strap on the Timex Expedition TW4B291006B interchangeable?
The fabric strap on this Timex Expedition model features a Hook & Loop closure, which is designed for comfort and quick adjustments. While it is technically replaceable, finding an exact match for the integrated fastwrap style might require specific Timex parts rather than standard aftermarket straps.
Who is this Timex Expedition Camper watch most suitable for?
The Timex Expedition Camper TW4B291006B is most suitable for men seeking a durable, affordable, and functional watch for outdoor activities like camping and hiking, or for casual daily wear. Its robust resin case and 100m water resistance make it a practical choice for an active lifestyle.
Editor's take
The Timex Expedition line has long been an entry point to functional, outdoor watches. Reference TW4B291006B is a distilled version of that ethos. It is for the wearer who values legibility and reliability, needing a timepiece that can be worn without a second thought during work or recreation.
The watch's near-weightless presence on the wrist is its most notable quality. The Resin case material makes it exceptionally light for all-day wear. Paired with a maintenance-free quartz calibre, it delivers pure utility, freeing the owner from the rituals of mechanical movements.
An owner should be aware of the material choices. The dial is protected by an Acrylic crystal, which is prone to light scratches. While many can be polished out, it lacks the hardness of sapphire. The stock Fabric strap is comfortable but will show wear and require eventual replacement.
For its purpose, these are acceptable trade-offs. The Expedition is a dependable tool, not a lifetime heirloom. Its standard 20mm lug width makes finding replacement straps simple. As a first field watch or a worry-free daily wearer, this model is a benchmark for accessible design.
