This Hamilton Khaki Field Murph watch is powered by the Swiss H-10 automatic movement. This calibre is known for its reliability and features an impressive 80-hour power reserve, allowing the watch to run for over three days without being worn or wound.
How does the Murph watch compare to other field watches in its price range?
The Hamilton Khaki Field Murph H70605731 stands out with its unique cinematic heritage from "Interstellar" and its robust H-10 automatic movement. While other field watches might offer similar water resistance or case materials, the Murph provides a distinct blend of cultural significance and a strong 80-hour power reserve, making it a compelling alternative for collectors.
What is the recommended service interval for the automatic movement in this watch?
For optimal performance and longevity, it's generally recommended to have automatic watches like the Hamilton Khaki Field Murph serviced every 3 to 5 years. This service typically includes cleaning, lubrication, and checking the water resistance seals to ensure continued accuracy and durability.

Editor's take
The Hamilton Khaki Field Murph H70605731 is more than just a timepiece; it's a cultural icon, directly inspired by the watch featured in the film "Interstellar." This 42mm field watch perfectly blends its cinematic legacy with Hamilton's long-standing tradition of producing robust and reliable military-inspired timepieces. It's an ideal choice for film buffs and watch enthusiasts alike who seek a watch with a compelling backstory and practical functionality.
Powering this iconic model is the Hamilton H-10 automatic movement, a workhorse calibre boasting an impressive 80-hour power reserve. This extended autonomy is a significant advantage, allowing the watch to be set aside for a weekend and still keep accurate time. Coupled with a durable stainless steel case and a highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the Murph is built to withstand the rigours of daily wear while maintaining its pristine appearance.
One minor consideration for some might be the 100-meter water resistance. While perfectly adequate for swimming and most surface water activities, it doesn't meet the ISO 6425 standard for dedicated dive watches. Therefore, serious divers might look for alternatives with higher ratings and specific dive features, though for general adventure, it's more than sufficient.
Ultimately, the Hamilton Khaki Field Murph H70605731 is highly recommended for those who appreciate a watch with character, a strong historical connection, and a reliable Swiss automatic movement. Its blend of cinematic appeal, rugged aesthetics, and practical features makes it a standout choice in its category, offering excellent value for a timepiece that tells a story.
