Yes, the Stuhrling Meridian 3965.01 offers 100 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for daily activities like showering and recreational swimming. However, it is not designed for professional diving or high-impact water sports.
What makes the GMT function on this watch useful for travel?
The GMT dual time function on the Stuhrling Meridian 3965.01 allows you to track a second time zone simultaneously. This is particularly useful for travelers who need to keep track of their home time while abroad, or for professionals managing international contacts.
How does the Stuhrling Meridian compare to other GMT watches in its price range?
The Stuhrling Meridian 3965.01 stands out with its Swiss quartz movement, classic diver-inspired design, and robust stainless steel build. While some alternatives might offer sapphire glass, this model provides reliable GMT functionality and a durable construction at an accessible price point, making it a strong contender for those prioritizing value and style.
What wrist sizes is this 42mm watch suitable for?
A 42mm case size like the Stuhrling Meridian 3965.01 is generally suitable for a wide range of men's wrist sizes, typically from 6.5 to 8 inches (16.5 to 20 cm) in circumference. Its balanced proportions ensure a comfortable and prominent fit for most wearers.
What type of battery does the Stuhrling Meridian 3965.01 use and how often should it be replaced?
The Stuhrling Meridian 3965.01 is powered by a quartz movement, which uses a standard watch battery. The typical lifespan for such a battery is usually 2-3 years, though this can vary. It's recommended to have the battery replaced by a professional watchmaker to maintain its water resistance.
Editor's take
The Stuhrling Original Meridian 3965.01 presents itself as a robust and functional timepiece tailored for the active man who values global connectivity. Drawing inspiration from classic diver aesthetics, this watch seamlessly blends sportiness with a refined appeal, making it suitable for a wide array of environments, from the office to international travel. Its accessible price point positions it as an attractive option for those seeking a reliable GMT companion without a significant investment.
Central to its utility is the Swiss quartz movement, providing precise timekeeping and the crucial GMT dual time function. This allows wearers to effortlessly track a second time zone, a feature invaluable for frequent travelers or those with international connections. The watch's construction features a durable 42mm stainless steel case and a matching bracelet, ensuring both longevity and a comfortable, substantial presence on the wrist. The 100-meter water resistance further enhances its practicality, making it suitable for recreational swimming and daily wear.
While the Meridian 3965.01 offers solid functionality, its use of crystal glass rather than sapphire might be a consideration for those prioritizing scratch resistance in a daily wear watch. Additionally, while it boasts a diver-inspired design, it lacks the ISO 6425 certification typically found in dedicated professional dive watches, meaning its "diver" designation is more aesthetic than functional for deep-sea exploration.
Ultimately, the Stuhrling Meridian 3965.01 is an excellent choice for individuals seeking a dependable and stylish GMT watch for everyday use and travel. It caters well to those who appreciate the convenience of a quartz movement and a classic sport watch look. For users requiring extreme scratch resistance or professional diving capabilities, exploring alternatives with sapphire crystals and full ISO certification, such as a Certina DS Action GMT, might be more appropriate.
