Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Armani Exchange AX2823 suitable for daily wear and sports activities?
The Armani Exchange AX2823 is well-suited for daily wear, offering a stylish and functional accessory. Its 50-metre water resistance means it can handle splashes and brief immersion, but it is not designed for swimming or high-impact water sports. For more rigorous sports, a dedicated sport watch would be more appropriate.
What is the difference between this AX2823 model and other Armani Exchange chronographs?
The AX2823 stands out with its distinctive rectangular case and black dial, offering a unique aesthetic compared to many round-cased Armani Exchange chronographs. While sharing the reliable quartz chronograph movement, its design makes it a more fashion-forward choice for those seeking a modern look.
How durable is the mineral glass on the Armani Exchange AX2823?
The Armani Exchange AX2823 features a scratch-resistant mineral glass, which provides good protection against everyday bumps and minor abrasions. While it's more resilient than standard glass, it is not as hard as sapphire crystal and can still be scratched with sufficient force.
What kind of wrist size is suitable for the 40mm case of the AX2823?
The 40mm case size of the Armani Exchange AX2823 is generally considered versatile and suitable for a wide range of men's wrist sizes, typically fitting wrists from 6.5 to 8 inches comfortably. Its rectangular shape can also make it appear slightly larger on the wrist.
Does the AX2823 require special maintenance for its quartz movement?
The quartz movement in the Armani Exchange AX2823 requires minimal maintenance. The primary upkeep involves replacing the battery every few years, typically when the watch stops. Beyond that, occasional cleaning with a soft cloth is usually sufficient to keep it looking its best.
Editor's take
The Armani Exchange AX2823 positions itself as a contemporary men's timepiece, blending urban fashion with practical functionality. Designed for the style-conscious individual, this watch from the Armani Exchange line offers a distinctive aesthetic that stands out from more traditional round-cased models. It's an accessible entry point into the world of fashion chronographs, appealing to those who seek a statement piece for everyday wear.
Underneath its sleek exterior, the AX2823 is powered by a reliable quartz chronograph movement, ensuring precise timekeeping and the added utility of a stopwatch. The 40mm stainless steel case with its unique rectangular shape is protected by a scratch-resistant mineral glass, a common choice in this segment for balancing cost and durability. Its 50-metre water resistance rating makes it suitable for daily activities, including light splashes, but not for swimming.
One aspect to consider is the mineral crystal, which, while scratch-resistant, does not offer the same level of hardness or clarity as sapphire found in higher-end timepieces. For those prioritising extreme durability against scratches, an alternative with a sapphire crystal might be a better fit. Additionally, the 50m water resistance is adequate for daily life but limits its use in water sports.
Ultimately, the Armani Exchange AX2823 is recommended for men who value modern design and the practical features of a chronograph in a fashion-forward package. It serves as an excellent accessory for enhancing a casual or smart-casual wardrobe. For those seeking more robust water resistance or a mechanical movement, exploring dedicated sport watches or entry-level automatics from brands like Seiko or Citizen could be worthwhile alternatives.
