Editor's take

The Bulova Classic Wilton 98M136 is a charming entry into the women's dress watch segment, drawing inspiration from Bulova's rich heritage in classic timekeeping. As part of the Classic Collection, this timepiece is designed for the discerning woman who seeks a blend of traditional elegance and modern reliability. Its modest 29mm stainless steel case and two-tone bracelet offer a versatile aesthetic, making it suitable for both formal attire and sophisticated daily wear.

At its core, the Classic Wilton 98M136 is powered by a dependable Japanese quartz movement, ensuring precise and maintenance-free timekeeping. The silver-white dial, featuring a date complication, is gracefully protected by a domed mineral crystal, which adds a vintage touch while offering adequate scratch resistance for everyday use. This combination of a reliable movement and thoughtful design elements underscores Bulova's commitment to accessible luxury.

While the 30-metre water resistance makes this watch suitable for splashes and light rain, it is important to note that it is not designed for swimming or diving. Enthusiasts seeking a timepiece for more rigorous aquatic activities would need to consider models with higher water resistance ratings and potentially a screw-down crown. The push button deployment clasp on the stainless steel bracelet provides security, but some may prefer a more robust clasp for active lifestyles.

Ultimately, the Bulova Classic Wilton 98M136 is an excellent choice for women desiring a stylish and reliable watch for daily elegance or special occasions. Its classic design and quartz precision make it a strong contender against other fashion-oriented timepieces in its price bracket. For those prioritising robust water resistance or mechanical movements, alternatives within Bulova's sportier lines or entry-level Swiss brands might be more appropriate.
