Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Bulova Maquina 98A320 suitable for daily wear and water activities?
The Bulova Maquina 98A320 is designed for daily wear with its durable stainless steel case and sapphire crystal. It offers 50 metres of water resistance, making it suitable for splashes, rain, and brief immersion. However, it is not recommended for swimming, showering, or diving, as these activities require higher water resistance.
What type of movement powers this Bulova Maquina watch?
This Bulova Maquina 98A320 is powered by a reliable automatic mechanical movement. This means the watch self-winds with the motion of your wrist, eliminating the need for a battery. It's a classic choice for watch enthusiasts who appreciate traditional horology.
How does the Bulova Maquina 98A320 compare to other watches in its price range?
The Bulova Maquina 98A320 stands out with its unique rectangular case, multicolour dial, and avant-garde design, offering a distinctive aesthetic often not found in its price segment. While many alternatives might offer similar automatic movements, this model prioritises bold style and a curved sapphire crystal, making it ideal for those seeking a fashion-forward statement piece rather than a conventional design.
What is the recommended maintenance for the Bulova Maquina 98A320?
As an automatic watch, the Bulova Maquina 98A320 benefits from periodic servicing, typically every 3-5 years, to ensure its mechanical movement remains accurate and functional. While it doesn't require battery changes, regular cleaning of the stainless steel bracelet and case will help maintain its appearance.
Is this watch suitable for all wrist sizes?
The Bulova Maquina 98A320 features a 40mm case, which is a versatile size that fits a wide range of men's wrists comfortably. The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted by removing links to achieve a perfect fit. It generally suits wrist sizes from approximately 6.5 to 8 inches.
What does the sapphire crystal offer for this Bulova watch?
The curved sapphire crystal on the Bulova Maquina 98A320 provides exceptional scratch resistance, far superior to mineral glass. This ensures the dial remains clear and legible over time, protecting the unique multicolour design from daily wear and tear. It also adds a premium feel to the watch.
Editor's take
The Bulova Maquina 98A320 positions itself as a daring statement piece within the brand's avant-garde Maquina collection, appealing to men who appreciate bold design and mechanical craftsmanship. This automatic timepiece blends contemporary aesthetics with traditional horology, offering a distinct visual identity. Its rectangular case shape and eye-catching multicolour patterned dial ensure a unique presence on the wrist, catering to those who desire individuality over convention.
Underneath its striking exterior, the Maquina 98A320 houses a reliable self-winding mechanical movement, eliminating the need for batteries and celebrating the art of traditional watchmaking. The watch is encased in a robust 40mm black-tone stainless steel case, providing both durability and a modern edge. A curved sapphire crystal offers superior scratch resistance and enhances the dial's visibility, while the 50-metre water resistance ensures practical resilience against splashes and brief immersion in daily life.
However, the 50-metre water resistance, while sufficient for everyday activities, means this Bulova Maquina is not suitable for swimming or serious water sports. Individuals seeking a true tool watch or a dedicated diver's companion should consider models with higher water resistance ratings and ISO certifications. Additionally, the watch's pronounced design, while a key feature, may not align with preferences for more subtle or classic dress watches, potentially limiting its versatility for formal occasions.
Ultimately, the Bulova Maquina 98A320 is an excellent choice for the style-conscious individual who values a unique aesthetic and the intricate workings of an automatic movement. It serves as a distinctive accessory for casual or urban environments, making a strong visual impact. For those prioritising extreme durability or a more traditional design, exploring other collections or brands known for their robust sports watches would be a more fitting alternative.
