Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Bulova Maquina 98A319 suitable for daily wear and activities?
Yes, the Bulova Maquina 98A319 is designed for daily wear. Its robust two-tone stainless steel case and sapphire crystal offer durability, while the 50-metre water resistance makes it suitable for everyday activities like hand washing and light rain. It combines style with practical resilience.
What type of movement does the Bulova Maquina 98A319 use?
The Bulova Maquina 98A319 features a reliable automatic movement. This means the watch is powered by the motion of your wrist, eliminating the need for a battery. It's a classic choice for those who appreciate traditional watchmaking.
How does the Maquina 98A319 compare to other watches in its price range?
The Maquina 98A319 stands out with its unique tonneau case shape and two-tone stainless steel design, offering a distinctive aesthetic often found in higher-end pieces. While some alternatives might offer greater water resistance, this model prioritises avant-garde style and a reliable automatic movement, making it a strong contender for fashion-conscious individuals.
Can I swim or shower with the Bulova Maquina 98A319?
The Bulova Maquina 98A319 has a water resistance of 50 metres, which means it can withstand splashes and brief immersion in water. However, it is not recommended for swimming, showering, or diving, as prolonged exposure to water pressure can compromise its seals.
What is the ideal wrist size for the 48mm Bulova Maquina 98A319?
Given its substantial 48mm case size, the Bulova Maquina 98A319 is best suited for individuals with medium to large wrists, typically 7 inches (17.8 cm) and above. This ensures the watch sits comfortably and maintains its intended bold presence without overwhelming the wrist.
Editor's take
The Bulova Maquina 98A319 enters the market as a distinctive automatic timepiece, targeting enthusiasts who appreciate a blend of traditional watchmaking with a modern, avant-garde aesthetic. Part of the Maquina collection, this model stands out with its bold design and substantial wrist presence, making it a conversation starter rather than a subtle accessory. It embodies Bulova's commitment to accessible yet stylish horology, offering a unique tonneau case shape that deviates from conventional round designs.
At its core, the Maquina 98A319 is powered by a reliable automatic movement, ensuring consistent and accurate timekeeping without the need for battery replacements. The watch features a striking 48mm two-tone stainless steel case complemented by a vibrant blue dial with rose gold accents and luminous markers, all protected by a durable, curved sapphire crystal. This combination of materials and finishes elevates its perceived value, providing a robust build quality that belies its accessible price point.
One potential drawback for some users might be the 50-metre water resistance. While adequate for daily activities like hand washing and light rain, it falls short for swimming or diving, limiting its versatility for active lifestyles. Furthermore, the substantial 48mm case size, while contributing to its bold aesthetic, may prove too large for individuals with smaller wrists, potentially leading to discomfort or an unbalanced look.
Overall, the Bulova Maquina 98A319 is an excellent choice for men seeking an automatic watch with a strong visual identity and a touch of modern flair. It's ideal for those who value design innovation and a reliable mechanical movement over extreme water sports capability. For individuals prioritising higher water resistance or a more understated profile, exploring dedicated dive watches or smaller dress watches might be a more suitable alternative.
