What functions do the sub-dials on this multifunction watch provide?
The sub-dials on the Tommy Hilfiger 1710658 multifunction quartz watch display the weekday, the 24-hour time, and the current date. These features enhance the watch's practicality for everyday use.
How does the 1710658 compare to other watches in its price range?
The Tommy Hilfiger 1710658 stands out with its bold 48mm case, distinctive yellow gold ion-plated stainless steel bracelet, and multifunction quartz movement. It offers a strong fashion statement and practical features, appealing to those who prioritise style and brand recognition.
What type of glass is used for the watch face?
The Tommy Hilfiger 1710658 features a durable mineral glass to protect its black dial. Mineral glass is a common choice for fashion watches, offering good scratch resistance for daily activities.
Is the yellow gold plating on the bracelet durable for regular use?

Editor's take
The Tommy Hilfiger 1710658 positions itself as a bold and accessible statement piece for the contemporary man. This model, part of Tommy Hilfiger's fashion-forward watch collection, blends a classic aesthetic with modern, oversized proportions, making it a versatile accessory for daily wear or more dressed-up casual events.
At its core, the watch is powered by a reliable multifunction quartz movement, offering practical indications for the day, date, and a 24-hour sub-dial. Its substantial 48mm stainless steel case with a striking yellow gold ion-plated bracelet ensures a commanding presence on the wrist, while the mineral glass protects the dimensional black dial.
One consideration for potential buyers is the 50-metre water resistance. While suitable for showering or swimming, it is not designed for serious water sports or diving, which might be a limitation for those seeking a more robust aquatic companion. The large case size, though a style statement, might also feel cumbersome on smaller wrists.
Ultimately, the 1710658 is ideal for individuals who prioritise fashion and a strong wrist presence over extreme durability or complex horological features. For those seeking a more tool-oriented timepiece, exploring dedicated dive or field watches from other brands might be a more suitable alternative.
