Citizen Weekender Sport AW1710-04E, 44mm, Black Dial

The Citizen Weekender Sport AW1710-04E is designed for the active man seeking a reliable and environmentally conscious timepiece. This solar-powered sport watch combines robust construction with a clean, functional aesthetic, making it suitable for daily wear and various outdoor activities. Its casual yet sophisticated appeal ensures it transitions seamlessly from the gym to social gatherings.

At its core, the Weekender Sport features Citizen's renowned Eco-Drive movement, which harnesses light energy from any source, eliminating the need for battery replacements. Encased in a 44mm stainless steel case, it offers a substantial presence on the wrist. The black dial is protected by a durable mineral crystal, and the watch boasts a practical 100-meter water resistance, making it suitable for swimming and snorkeling.

A key highlight is the polyurethane strap, which provides exceptional comfort and durability, ideal for an active lifestyle. This material is resistant to water and sweat, ensuring longevity and ease of maintenance. The combination of its reliable solar movement and robust build makes the Citizen Weekender Sport a practical choice for those who value convenience and resilience in their everyday watch.

The Citizen Weekender Sport AW1710-04E embodies Citizen's commitment to accessible, reliable timekeeping with an eco-conscious edge. Positioned as a versatile everyday sport watch, it appeals to individuals who appreciate a robust build and maintenance-free operation. This model, part of Citizen's broader sport casual offerings, delivers a straightforward yet stylish solution for active lifestyles, reflecting the brand's long-standing heritage in practical watchmaking.

Central to its appeal is the proprietary Eco-Drive movement, a solar mechanism that converts any light source into energy, storing it in a power cell. This eliminates the need for traditional battery changes, offering unparalleled convenience and environmental benefit. The watch features a substantial 44mm stainless steel case paired with a durable mineral crystal, providing ample protection for the black dial and its date complication. Its 100-meter water resistance further enhances its utility for various aquatic activities.

While the mineral crystal offers good shatter resistance, it is more prone to scratches compared to sapphire, a common trade-off in this price segment. Enthusiasts seeking superior scratch protection might consider models with sapphire glass, though this would typically come at a higher price point. Additionally, the fixed bezel, while contributing to the watch's clean aesthetic, means it lacks the functional timing capabilities of a rotating dive bezel.

Ultimately, the Citizen Weekender Sport AW1710-04E is an excellent choice for those seeking a dependable, low-maintenance sport watch for daily wear. Its Eco-Drive technology and robust construction make it a practical companion for casual outings, light sports, and everyday tasks. For users prioritizing advanced features like sapphire crystal or a rotating bezel, exploring other Citizen collections or slightly higher-priced alternatives might be worthwhile.
