Frequently Asked Questions
How deep can I go with the Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB?
The Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB offers 200 meters (660 feet) of water resistance. This makes it suitable for professional marine activity, surface water sports, and recreational diving, but not for saturation diving.
What type of movement does this watch use?
This Invicta Pro Diver model is powered by a reliable Japanese automatic NH35A movement. This 24-jewel calibre is known for its robustness and self-winding capability, meaning it's powered by your wrist's motion.
Is the mineral crystal on the 8930OB prone to scratches?
The Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB features a mineral crystal, which is more resistant to shattering than sapphire but can be more susceptible to scratches from daily wear. Care should be taken to avoid abrasive surfaces.
How does the Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB compare to other dive watches in its price range?
The Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB stands out with its NH35A automatic movement, 200m water resistance, and classic dive watch aesthetics at an accessible price point. Many alternatives might offer quartz movements or lower water resistance for a similar cost.
Is this watch suitable for smaller wrists?
With a 40mm case diameter, the Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB is a versatile size that fits a wide range of wrist sizes, typically from 6.5 to 8 inches comfortably. Its lug-to-lug distance is also moderate for its class.
What kind of maintenance does an automatic watch like this require?
An automatic watch like the Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB generally benefits from a service every 3-5 years to ensure optimal performance and lubrication. Regular checks of the water resistance seals are also recommended, especially if used for diving.
Editor's take
The Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB presents itself as an accessible entry into the world of mechanical dive watches, drawing clear inspiration from iconic designs. Aimed at the budget-conscious enthusiast, this model offers a robust build and classic aesthetics that resonate with a broad audience. Its gold-tone finish and blue dial provide a distinctive look, making it a versatile choice for various occasions.
Powering this timepiece is the reliable Seiko NH35A automatic movement, a workhorse calibre known for its durability and ease of service. This 24-jewel movement ensures consistent timekeeping and features a hacking function and manual winding capability, which are often appreciated by mechanical watch collectors. The 40mm stainless steel case and mineral crystal contribute to its everyday resilience.
While the 200-meter water resistance is commendable for a watch in this price segment, the use of a mineral crystal rather than sapphire means it is more susceptible to scratches. Furthermore, the gold-tone plating, while visually appealing, may show wear over extended periods compared to solid gold or PVD coatings. This is a common trade-off for affordability.
Ultimately, the Invicta Pro Diver 8930OB is an excellent choice for those seeking a stylish and functional automatic dive watch without a significant investment. It serves as a solid daily wearer or a gateway into mechanical watch collecting. For those prioritizing scratch resistance, exploring models with sapphire crystals, even at a slightly higher price point, might be a worthwhile alternative.
