The Sekonda 200M Sports 30087 stands out with its solid 200m water resistance, classic dive watch aesthetics, and dependable Japanese quartz movement at an accessible price point. Editor's take
The Sekonda 200M Sports 30087 positions itself as an accessible entry into the world of dive watches, offering a straightforward and dependable timepiece for those seeking a classic aesthetic without a premium price tag. This model from Sekonda, a brand known for its value-driven offerings, aims to provide essential dive watch features for the everyday wearer.
At its technical core, the watch relies on a robust Japanese quartz movement, ensuring reliable accuracy and minimal fuss for daily wear. Its 42mm stainless steel case provides a substantial yet wearable presence, paired with a clear blue dial that features a practical date window. The impressive 200m water resistance rating confirms its capability for various water-based activities, aligning with the expectations of a true dive-inspired watch.
One area where this model makes a concession for its price point is the use of mineral glass rather than sapphire. While mineral glass offers good scratch resistance for daily use, it is not as impervious to deeper scratches as sapphire, which might be a consideration for those planning more rigorous adventures. Additionally, the country of origin being China is typical for this segment but worth noting for purists.
This Sekonda is an ideal choice for individuals looking for a reliable, no-frills dive watch aesthetic for daily wear or casual water sports. It serves as an excellent starter dive watch or a dependable secondary timepiece. For those prioritizing a mechanical movement or sapphire crystal, exploring entry-level automatics from other brands might be a suitable alternative, albeit at a higher price point.
