Casio LA670WGA-9, 44mm, Black Dial, Gold Resin Strap

The Casio MDV106, known as the Duro, is an accessibly priced diver built around a 44mm stainless steel case with a black dial and genuine 200m water resistance.

Its unidirectional rotating bezel turns counterclockwise only for safe elapsed time tracking, the mineral crystal guards the dial against everyday scratches, and the black resin strap keeps it light and easy to clean.

A Japanese quartz movement, battery powered and analog, drives the hands and the date display, offering accurate, low maintenance timekeeping for a watch that handles both daily wear and real water use.

The Casio MDV106, also known as the Duro, is one of the most honest dive watches you can buy at its price. The 44mm stainless steel case carries a black dial that stays legible in low light, and the 200m water resistance is the real thing rather than a marketing figure. This is a watch built to a brief, and it meets that brief without pretending to be something it is not.

The unidirectional rotating bezel does what a dive bezel is supposed to do. It only turns counterclockwise, so an accidental knock shortens your timing instead of extending it, which is the safe failure mode underwater. The mineral crystal sits above the dial and resists everyday scratches well enough, and the black resin strap keeps the whole package light on the wrist and easy to rinse after a swim.

Inside is a Japanese quartz movement, battery powered and analog, with a date window at the standard position. Quartz here is a feature rather than a compromise. It holds time accurately, needs no winding, and asks almost nothing of the owner beyond an occasional battery change. For a tool watch that may sit in a bag between trips, that reliability matters.

What the MDV106 gets right is restraint. It does not chase complications or precious materials. It offers a properly rated case, a functional bezel, and clear timekeeping in a form that suits both daily wear and actual water use. If you want a dependable diver without the weight of a luxury price tag, this is a sensible place to start.
