Description
The Rado Coupole is a compact unisex automatic with a round case and a white dial. It suits wearers who prefer a smaller, refined dress style with warm rose gold accents and a brown leather strap.
The case is made of stainless steel with PVD finishing and measures 31.8 mm across and 9.7 mm thick. A sapphire crystal protects the white dial, and the automatic movement runs without a battery. Water resistance is rated at 5 bar, or 50 m.
The brown leather strap closes with a foldover clasp, which keeps the profile tidy on the wrist. The Coupole suits daily wear in the office or on dressier occasions, and it handles splashes and light rain without trouble.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the Coupole fit a small wrist?
The Rado Coupole has a 31.8 mm round case and is 9.7 mm thick, so it sits compactly on slim and average wrists. The leather strap with foldover clasp adjusts for a neat fit. It is a suitable choice for anyone who finds larger dress watches too bulky.
Can I wear it in the shower or for a swim?
With 5 bar (50 m) water resistance, the Rado Coupole handles splashes and rain, but swimming and showering are not advisable. Hot water and steam can also harm the leather strap and gaskets over time. Remove it before water activities.
Does it need a battery?
No, the Coupole uses an automatic movement that winds from wrist motion, so there is no battery to replace. If it sits unworn for a while, it may stop and need a gentle shake or manual winding. Regular service every few years keeps it accurate.
Is it a good daily watch for the office?
Yes for daily office wear. The Rado Coupole is slim at 9.7 mm, has a sapphire crystal resistant to scratches and a white dial that stays easy to read. The brown leather strap suits both formal and smart casual outfits.
How does it differ from a quartz dress watch?
Compared with quartz, the Rado Coupole runs on an automatic movement, so it has no battery and a mechanical feel. Quartz is usually more accurate and cheaper to maintain. This one suits those who value mechanical craft and a sapphire crystal.
How should I care for the leather strap?
Keep the brown leather strap dry and avoid prolonged sun or sweat, which darken and wear it. Wipe it with a soft cloth after wear. Over time, the Coupole strap may need replacing, which a watchmaker can do for the foldover clasp fitting.
Editor's take
Small automatics with real finish are not easy to find, and the Rado Coupole speaks to wearers who want a 31.8 mm case without moving to quartz. The white dial and rose gold accents give it a clean dress character, and the unisex sizing suits slim wrists well.
The case is stainless steel with PVD finishing, protected by a sapphire crystal that resists scratches far better than mineral glass. Inside runs an automatic movement that winds from wrist motion, so no battery change is ever needed. At 9.7 mm thick, it slides comfortably under a shirt cuff.
The limit is water resistance. 5 bar (50 m) covers splashes and rain, but swimming or showering is better avoided, particularly with a leather strap on the wrist. The brown leather strap will also age with sweat and moisture, so keep it dry.
It suits anyone after a compact, elegant daily automatic with a foldover clasp for a tidy fit. If you want more water resistance or a larger presence, look at steel-bracelet automatics from other Swiss brands in a similar price bracket.
