Description
The Amazfit T-Rex 3 is a rugged smartwatch built for hikers, trail runners and anyone who spends long days outdoors. It pairs a bright 1.5 inch AMOLED display with a tough body and a red silicone strap.
The bezel and buttons are made of 316L stainless steel, and the military-grade body is rated to withstand heat and cold. Water resistance is 100m, and the watch is certified for freediving to 45m. Navigation relies on dual-band GPS backed by six satellite systems, with free global, contour and snow maps.
Battery life is the standout: about 27 days of typical use, and up to 180 hours of GPS with some settings disabled. With over 170 workout modes, AI training plans and Zepp Flow voice control, it works as a daily tracker as well as an expedition companion.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I swim and shower with the T-Rex 3?
Yes for both. The Amazfit T-Rex 3 is water resistant to 100m, which covers showering, pool swimming and surfing. Hot steam in a sauna is best avoided. Rinse the silicone strap with fresh water after salt water use, and keep the buttons clean for reliable operation.
How deep can I freedive with this watch?
The watch is freediving certified to 45m, and it also has a dive-style activity mode for breath-hold sessions. That certification is for freediving only. For scuba with tanks, a dedicated dive computer is the safer tool, and this smartwatch is better seen as a backup.
How long does the battery last between charges?
Amazfit quotes up to 27 days of typical use. In GPS Accurate Mode you get around 42 hours, and in Long Battery Life mode up to 114 hours. With some settings turned off, GPS can reach 180 hours, which suits multi-day hikes.
Will it fit a small wrist, and can I change the strap?
The T-Rex 3 is a chunky, sport-oriented watch, so slim wrists will notice its presence. It uses a 22mm strap width, which means standard 22mm quick-release silicone, nylon or leather straps can be fitted if you want a different look or feel.
How does the T-Rex 3 differ from a typical fitness smartwatch?
Compared with lighter fitness watches, it adds a 316L stainless steel bezel, a military-grade body, dual-band GPS with offline maps and a much longer battery life. A lighter alternative suits office wear, while the T-Rex 3 suits hiking and outdoor sport.
Does it work with an iPhone and can it reply to messages?
It pairs with iOS and Android through the Zepp app. Zepp Flow voice control, powered by GPT-4o, lets you speak commands, and speech-to-text replies to messages in apps such as WhatsApp are available on Android phones.
Editor's take
Amazfit's T-Rex line has always aimed at people who find mainstream smartwatches too fragile for the trail, and the T-Rex 3 continues that approach with a 316L stainless steel bezel and buttons around a 1.5 inch AMOLED screen. It is a tool-style smartwatch for hikers, trail runners and multisport users rather than a dressy everyday piece.
The technical highlight is the navigation stack. Dual-band GPS backed by six satellite systems gives faster, steadier fixes in canyons or under tree cover, and the free offline maps with turn directions make the watch genuinely useful away from a phone. Peak brightness of 2,000 nits keeps the display legible in direct sun, while the silicone strap with a 22mm lug width is easy to swap.
The caveat is that 100m water resistance, although fine for swimming and surfing, is a rating for recreational use. The freediving certification to 45m covers breath-hold activity only, so serious divers should still look at a dedicated dive computer. The watch is also a smartwatch first, which means a charging routine and software updates rather than the decades-long service life of a mechanical piece.
It suits anyone who wants long battery life, up to 27 days in typical use, and serious GPS in a single device. Buyers who prefer a slimmer, more discreet profile might look at a sport model from Garmin or Coros in a similar price bracket.

Built For Hard Use
The T-Rex 3 pairs a 48.0mm aluminum alloy case with a sapphire crystal, a combination that resists scratches far better than mineral glass. A silicone strap in red keeps weight down and handles sweat and mud without fuss. Water resistance is rated to 100m, enough for swimming and surface water sports.
Sustainable Packaging, Inside and Out
Along with the sustainable box, we've removed the charging cable from the box, saving excess metal and plastic from being used. The charging base is still in the box and works with USB Type-C cables.
