Editor's take
The Citizen Chandler BM6838-17L presents itself as a pragmatic and stylish choice for the modern man seeking a reliable daily companion. As part of Citizen's renowned Eco-Drive line, this model embodies the brand's commitment to sustainable watchmaking, offering a blend of classic field watch aesthetics with contemporary power solutions. It's particularly well-suited for those who appreciate a no-fuss approach to timekeeping.
Technically, the Chandler is driven by a precise Japanese quartz solar movement, eliminating the need for regular battery replacements by converting any light source into energy. Its 42mm stainless steel case provides a robust housing, complemented by a mineral crystal that offers adequate protection against everyday bumps and scratches. The 100-meter water resistance ensures it can handle recreational swimming and showering without concern.
One potential consideration for enthusiasts might be the use of a mineral crystal over sapphire, which, while cost-effective, is more prone to scratching over time. For a watch positioned as a durable daily wearer, some might prefer the enhanced scratch resistance of sapphire. However, this choice helps keep the watch accessible.
Ultimately, the Citizen Chandler BM6838-17L is an excellent recommendation for individuals seeking a dependable, environmentally friendly, and stylish watch for casual and active lifestyles. Its BM6838-17L reference offers a compelling package for those prioritising convenience and durability. For those desiring a more rugged aesthetic, exploring other field watch options might be worthwhile.
