Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 suitable for daily swimming or showering?
The Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 has a water resistance of 50 metres, making it suitable for splashes, light rain, and brief immersion. However, it is not recommended for daily swimming, showering, or diving, as the water pressure and soap could compromise the seals over time. For water sports, a higher water resistance rating is advised.
What type of movement powers this Stuhrling watch?
This classic timepiece is powered by a reliable Miyota 2315 Japanese quartz movement. This ensures exceptional accuracy and requires minimal maintenance compared to mechanical watches. Quartz movements are known for their precision and long battery life, making them a practical choice for daily wear.
How does the Krysterna Crystal compare to sapphire glass?
The Krysterna Crystal used in the Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 is a proprietary synthetic crystal designed for good scratch and shatter resistance. While it offers robust protection for daily use, sapphire crystal generally provides superior scratch resistance and clarity. Krysterna is a durable option for its price point.
What wrist size is suitable for the 42mm case of this watch?
The 42mm case size of the Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 is a versatile size that generally suits most men's wrists, especially those between 6.5 and 8 inches in circumference. The 20mm lug width and stainless steel bracelet ensure a balanced and comfortable fit. It offers a noticeable presence without being overly large.
What kind of maintenance does a quartz watch like this require?
A quartz watch like the Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 requires very little maintenance. The primary service needed is a battery replacement, typically every 2-3 years, depending on usage. It's also advisable to have the water resistance seals checked during battery changes to ensure continued protection against moisture for daily wear.
Is the Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 a good alternative to more expensive dress watches?
The Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 offers a compelling alternative to more expensive dress watches by providing a classic aesthetic and reliable quartz movement at an accessible price. Its elegant design, stainless steel construction, and Krysterna crystal make it a stylish option for those who prioritise value and everyday practicality over high-end mechanical movements.
Editor's take
The Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 Quartz Classic positions itself as an accessible yet elegant option for men seeking a reliable and stylish everyday timepiece. Drawing from classic design principles, this watch from the Lineage collection offers a versatile aesthetic that transitions seamlessly from business casual to more formal settings. It appeals to those who appreciate traditional watchmaking cues without the complexities or higher cost associated with mechanical movements.
Powering this refined piece is the dependable Miyota 2315 Japanese quartz movement, renowned for its accuracy and robustness, ensuring the watch keeps precise time with minimal fuss. Encased in a 42mm round stainless steel case, it features a protective Krysterna Crystal over its clean white dial, offering a good balance of durability and clarity. With a water resistance of 50 metres, it is well-suited for daily wear, handling splashes and brief immersion with ease.
One consideration for potential buyers is the Krysterna Crystal, which, while proprietary to Stuhrling and offering good scratch resistance, does not quite match the superior hardness and anti-reflective properties of sapphire. While adequate for most daily scenarios, those requiring extreme scratch protection or enhanced optical clarity might find it a slight compromise. The fixed coin edge bezel, while aesthetically pleasing, does not offer functional rotation.
Ultimately, the Stuhrling Lineage 3935.6 is an excellent choice for individuals desiring a classic-looking watch with the convenience and accuracy of quartz technology. Its timeless design and reliable performance make it a strong contender for a daily wearer or a thoughtful gift. For those seeking similar aesthetics with a mechanical heart, exploring entry-level automatic dress watches from brands like Orient or Seiko might offer suitable alternatives in a slightly different price bracket.
