Can my child swim or shower while wearing this watch?
The Timex Time Machines TW7C122009J has a water resistance of 30 metres, meaning it can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water. However, it is not suitable for swimming, bathing, or showering.
How does this watch compare to other kids' watches in terms of features?
This Timex model stands out with its clear Arabic numerals for easy time-telling and a durable acrylic glass that resists impact. Many alternatives might offer similar water resistance but may lack the specific Timex Kids Loss Protection Plan.
How often will the battery need to be changed for this quartz watch?
The quartz movement in the Timex Time Machines TW7C122009J typically provides a battery life of several years, often between two to three years, depending on usage. Battery changes should be performed by a professional.

Editor's take
The Timex Time Machines TW7C122009J is an entry-level timepiece specifically designed for younger enthusiasts, embodying the playful spirit of the Time Machines collection. This model serves as an excellent first watch, offering a blend of durability and child-friendly aesthetics. Its 32mm resin case and vibrant purple hue make it an appealing accessory, while the clear, easy-to-read dial ensures functionality for learning to tell time.
At its core, this watch is powered by a reliable quartz movement, providing accurate and low-maintenance timekeeping, which is ideal for children. The use of an acrylic lens over the white dial, adorned with full Arabic numerals, prioritises impact resistance over scratch resistance, a practical choice for active kids. The fabric strap, secured with a simple buckle, is both comfortable and adjustable, fitting smaller wrists effectively.
While the 30-metre water resistance is sufficient for splashes and brief immersion, it is important to note that this watch is not designed for swimming or bathing. The resin case and acrylic crystal, while robust against drops, may show wear and scratches more readily than more premium materials like stainless steel or sapphire, which is a common trade-off in this segment.
Ultimately, the Timex Time Machines TW7C122009J is a commendable choice for parents seeking a functional, fun, and resilient watch for their child. It excels as an educational tool and a daily companion for casual wear. For those requiring higher water resistance or more scratch-resistant materials, exploring other Timex collections or entry-level sports watches might be a suitable alternative, though likely at a higher price point.
