Description
The Amazfit Active 2 Premium is a square smartwatch built for people who want training data, navigation and daily health tracking on one wrist. It suits runners, cyclists, swimmers and gym users alike.
The case is polished stainless steel, and the screen is covered by scratch-resistant sapphire glass. Behind it sits a 1.75 inch AMOLED display rated at 2,000 nits. The watch is water resistant to 50 m, carries a barometer, and pairs with a black leather strap fitted with a buckle.
More than 160 workout modes are available, along with AI-generated plans from the Zepp Coach and an official HYROX Race mode. GPS draws on 5 satellite systems, and free maps can be downloaded through the Zepp App. Battery life reaches about 10 days with typical use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I wear the Amazfit Active 2 for swimming?
The Active 2 is rated to 50 m water resistance, so pool swimming and showers are fine. The listing also says swimming can be tracked thanks to the barometer and water resistance. Hot water, steam and high-speed dives are best avoided, since the 50 m rating suits casual swimming rather than diving.
How long will the battery last between charges?
Typical use gives up to 10 days on the Active 2, and heavy use brings that down to about 5 days. With continuous GPS tracking you get roughly 21 hours. Daily runners who use GPS often should expect to charge weekly or a little sooner.
Is this good for daily sport and gym use?
It covers daily sport well with 160+ workout modes, including running, cycling, yoga and padel. Strength sessions planned in the Zepp App sync to your wrist, and your rep and set data is logged. The Amazfit Active 2 also has an official HYROX Race mode for Single, Double or Team events.
How does it differ from a regular fitness band?
Compared with a basic band, the Active 2 offers sapphire glass, a 1.75 inch AMOLED screen at 2,000 nits, GPS with 5 satellite systems and downloadable maps. A band is lighter and cheaper but rarely gives turn-by-turn directions. This watch is the alternative for those who want navigation and a stainless steel look.
Does it come with a spare strap, and what size is it?
The Premium Square set is listed as including two straps, with a black leather strap and buckle among them. The lug width is 22 mm, so standard 22 mm straps should fit. It is a square watch, so check how it sits on your wrist before choosing a very thin strap.
Which phone app does it use, and who is it suitable for?
It works with the Zepp App, which handles maps, workout plans and data sync. The Zepp Coach builds AI-generated plans, including running plans for races from 3K up to marathons. It suits runners, cyclists and gym users who want health data and navigation from one wrist.
Editor's take
Amazfit's Active 2 Premium is aimed at people who train across several sports and want a watch that looks tidy enough for daily wear. The Premium Square version swaps the usual silicone look for a polished case and a leather strap, and it comes with a second strap in the box.
The screen is the strongest part of the package. A 1.75 inch AMOLED panel reaching 2,000 nits sits under sapphire glass, so it stays readable in bright light and resists scratches well. Positioning relies on GPS supported by 5 satellite systems, with downloadable maps and voice directions, which is useful on unfamiliar routes.
The limits are worth knowing. 50 m water resistance covers swimming and showers, but it is not a rating for serious diving, even though the listing mentions diving as a sport type. Continuous GPS tracking lasts only about 21 hours, so ultra-distance events will need a charge plan.
It suits runners, gym users and hybrid athletes who want maps, BioTracker health data and a HYROX Race mode without a very large price. Those who care mainly about long multi-week battery life or dedicated dive features should look at rugged sport watches instead.

From the manufacturer
A 44mm Case in Steel
The Active 2 A2440 uses a 44.0mm stainless steel case, a size that sits comfortably on most wrists without crowding the cuff. Steel gives the case a measured weight and resists the daily knocks a smartwatch tends to collect. The proportions suit both sport and dress settings.
Sapphire Crystal Over the Display
A sapphire crystal covers the dial, ranking at 9 on the Mohs scale and well above mineral glass for scratch resistance. That matters on a watch worn daily, where desk edges and door frames do most of the damage. The display stays clear and legible as the months pass.
Leather Strap, Traditional Feel
The leather strap gives this smartwatch the look of a conventional dress piece rather than a gadget. Leather softens with wear and takes on the character of the wearer's wrist over time. It pairs naturally with the brushed steel case and suits office or evening dress.
Rated to 50 Meters
Water resistance is rated to 50 meters, which covers handwashing, rain, and shallow swimming. It is not intended for diving or high-speed water sports. Note that leather straps are best kept dry, so a quick swap is sensible before a swim.
A Smartwatch Built Like a Watch
The Active 2 brings together a steel case, a sapphire crystal, and a leather strap, materials a watch enthusiast will recognize. Smart functions sit inside a familiar format instead of replacing it. The result reads as a watch first and a tracker second.
Reference A2440 at a Glance
Reference A2440 measures 44.0mm in stainless steel with a sapphire crystal and a leather strap. Water resistance is 50 meters. These specifications make it a practical daily wear for those who want connected features without giving up proper case materials.
