Description
Amazfit Active Max is a sports-focused smartwatch for people who train often and want a large, bright screen on the wrist. It carries a round 1.5-inch AMOLED display and a black silicone strap, and it suits runners, cyclists, hikers and swimmers.
The display reaches 3,000 nits, so data stays legible in direct sunlight. Positioning uses five satellite systems, while 4GB of onboard storage holds music and downloadable offline maps with turn-by-turn directions. The watch is rated to 50 meters of water resistance and closes with a magnetic clasp.
Battery life of up to 25 days keeps charging to a minimum. Over 170 workout modes, Zepp Coach plans for distances from 3K to the marathon and the BioCharge energy score help structure training, and Bluetooth calls work through the built-in speaker and mic.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I swim with the Amazfit Active Max?
Yes for pool swimming and showers, since the Amazfit Active Max is rated to 50 m of water resistance. It is not meant for deep diving or high-speed water sports, even though diving is listed as a sport. For daily swim training it works well, and rinsing it afterward helps the silicone strap.
Is it good for daily sport and hiking?
The 1.5-inch AMOLED screen reaches 3,000 nits and stays readable in bright sun, which helps on trails. Five satellite systems and downloadable offline maps with turn-by-turn directions make the Active Max a practical hiking companion. With 170+ workout modes it also covers gym, cycling and running sessions.
How long does the battery last between charges?
Amazfit quotes up to 25 days of battery for the Active Max under typical use. Heavy GPS tracking, constant Bluetooth calls and maximum brightness will shorten that, so expect fewer days in a training-heavy week. Even then it usually lasts well beyond a typical smartwatch, and the strap does not affect charging.
Does it work with iPhone as well as Android?
The watch pairs through the Zepp app for core tracking and notifications. One feature needs a specific phone: replying hands-free to instant messages with Zepp Flow requires an Android phone. Bluetooth calls use the built-in speaker and mic, so who owns the watch matters mainly for that reply feature.
How is it different from a basic fitness band?
Compared with a simple band, the Active Max adds a large 1.5-inch AMOLED display, built-in GPS with five satellite systems and 4GB of storage for music and maps. Zepp Coach plans for 3K to marathon distances add structure. A basic band is lighter, but offline navigation is the clear alternative gain here.
Will it fit a small wrist, and can I change the strap?
The Active Max has a round dial and a black silicone strap with a magnetic closure, which is gentle on a smaller wrist as the strap adjusts. The page lists a weight of 1.97 ounces, about 56 g. A larger 1.5-inch screen looks bold on slim wrists, so try it on if you prefer something compact.
Editor's take
Amazfit's Active Max is aimed at people who train across several sports and care more about screen size and endurance than about a traditional watch look. The 1.5-inch AMOLED panel is the headline here, and it sits on a round case with a black silicone strap that suits sweaty sessions.
The 3,000-nit display is the feature that matters most outdoors. Glare is the usual weakness of a smartwatch on a trail or on a bike, and a panel this bright keeps pace data legible. Pairing it with five satellite systems and 4GB of onboard storage for offline maps means you can leave the phone at home for a run.
The main limit is water resistance. At 50 m, the Active Max handles pool swims and showers, but it is not built for serious diving, even though diving appears among its listed sports. Voice replies through Zepp Flow also require an Android phone, so iPhone owners lose part of the connected experience.
It suits runners, cyclists and hikers who want a long 25-day battery and structured plans from Zepp Coach. Anyone who needs deeper water ratings or a dive computer should look at a dedicated sports-diving watch instead.

Active Max in Comparison to Other Amazfit Smartwatches
Amazfit Active Max
A 47mm Case With Presence
The Active Max uses a 47.0mm case, a size that suits wrists accustomed to larger sports watches. The proportions leave room for a generous display while keeping the profile practical for daily wear and training sessions.
Silicone Strap For Long Days
The silicone strap is soft, light, and unaffected by sweat, which matters when a watch is worn through workouts and into the evening. It dries quickly and needs no care beyond a rinse and a wipe.
Rated To 50 Meters
With 50m of water resistance, the A2557 handles rain, handwashing, and swimming in a pool. As with any watch at this rating, it is not intended for high-speed water sports or diving, so keep those uses in mind.
A Smart Watch Built For Training
Amazfit designed the Active Max as a connected sports companion rather than a dress piece. It tracks activity and records workouts, giving athletes a steady stream of data they can review after each session.
Reference A2557 At A Glance
The A2557 pairs a 47.0mm case, a silicone strap, and 50m water resistance in one straightforward package. It is a practical choice for wearers who want a capable smart watch without added complication.
