Description
The Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar is an outdoor smartwatch built for hikers, trail runners and anyone who spends long days away from a charger. Its 51mm octagonal case carries a Grade 5 titanium bezel and a black silicone strap.
The 3,000-nit AMOLED display sits under scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, while the glass-ceramic back plate and the screen both collect solar energy, which Amazfit rates at up to 25 days of battery life. Water resistance is 100m, with dive tracking to 50m.
Full-color offline maps, turn-by-turn guidance and automatic rerouting work beyond cell coverage. Add a white and red flashlight, Bluetooth calls and training metrics such as VO₂ Max and recovery insights, and it covers most of what an adventure day demands.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I swim with the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar?
Yes for pool and open-water swimming, since the watch is rated 10 ATM, or 100m. Dive tracking is available down to 50m, which covers snorkeling and recreational freediving. Serious scuba work is better handled by a dedicated dive computer, so treat the watch as a daily swim and sport companion rather than a diving instrument.
How long does the battery last between charges?
Amazfit quotes up to 25 days of battery life on the T-Rex Dual Solar, helped by solar charging through both the AMOLED display and the glass-ceramic back plate. Real figures are usually lower with GPS, always-on use and Bluetooth calls, so for daily use expect a few weeks in normal mode and less during heavy outdoor activity.
Will a 51mm watch fit my wrist?
The case is 51mm wide with 26mm lugs and a silicone strap, so it sits large. It generally suits average to larger wrists best. On a smaller wrist it may overhang the edges, so check your wrist size first or consider a slimmer GPS sports watch as an alternative.
How does it compare with a normal GPS sports watch?
Compared with many GPS sports watches, the T-Rex Dual Solar adds solar charging from two surfaces, a Grade 5 titanium bezel, sapphire crystal and a 3,000-nit AMOLED display. That makes it more rugged and easier to read outdoors, though it is also larger and heavier than slimmer running-focused models.
Does it work offline when I have no phone signal?
Yes, the Amazfit T-Rex Dual Solar stores full-color offline maps, so you can plan routes, follow turn-by-turn guidance and use automatic rerouting beyond cell coverage. Bluetooth calls and Zepp Flow messaging still need a connected phone, but navigation and activity tracking continue on the wrist.
Does it need servicing or battery replacement?
There is no replaceable coin cell, because the watch uses a rechargeable battery topped up by solar and cable charging. Routine care means rinsing it with fresh water after salt or sweat exposure and keeping the charging contacts clean. If the battery capacity drops after several years, a service center can advise.
Editor's take
Amazfit's T-Rex line has long targeted people who want a rugged outdoor smartwatch without paying for a premium sports brand, and the Dual Solar is the line's most ambitious version. Its Grade 5 titanium bezel and 51mm octagonal case give it the look of a tool watch, only with a screen.
The headline feature is the dual-sided solar charging: both the AMOLED display and the glass-ceramic back plate collect light, which Amazfit says stretches battery life to as much as 25 days. The sapphire crystal over a 3,000-nit panel matters in practice, because bright sun is where many smartwatch screens wash out.
The trade-off is size. At 51mm with a 26mm lug width, it will dominate a smaller wrist, and the silicone strap, while practical, lacks the refinement of a metal bracelet. Water resistance of 100m with dive tracking to 50m suits snorkeling and swimming, but serious diving calls for a dedicated dive computer.
It suits hikers, trail runners and campers who want offline maps and long battery life in one package. If you prefer a slimmer profile, a smaller GPS sports watch is the better alternative.

T-Rex Dual Solar vs. Other Amazfit T-Rex Smartwatches
T-Rex Dual Solar
A 51mm Case With Presence
The A2570 uses a 51mm case sized for those who prefer a large, legible dial on the wrist. It reads as a purpose-built field instrument rather than a dressed-down smartwatch, with proportions that suit larger wrists and gloved use alike.
Sapphire Crystal Over the Display
Sapphire crystal sits above the display, rated 9 on the Mohs scale and resistant to the scratches that accumulate on trails, rock faces and desk edges. It is the same material horologists expect on serious tool watches, applied here to a touchscreen instrument.
Solar Charging for Long Intervals
The solar-assisted power system draws on daylight to extend the time between charges. For anyone spending long days outdoors, that means less planning around a cable and more confidence that the watch will keep logging when the battery would otherwise run low.
Rated to 100 Meters
With 100m of water resistance, the A2570 handles swimming, rain, and repeated rinsing after salt or mud exposure. It is a practical rating for pool laps and surface water sports, though it is not intended for high-pressure diving use.
Silicone Strap for Daily Wear
The silicone strap is light, flexible, and unaffected by sweat or water, which suits a watch meant to be worn through training and sleep. It keeps the 51mm case stable on the wrist without the weight a metal bracelet would add.
Built for Field Use
Taken together, the large case, sapphire glass, solar power, and 100m rating describe a watch designed to be used hard. The A2570 from Amazfit is aimed at those who value durability and endurance over ornament.
