Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 suitable for daily wear and light sports?
Yes, the Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 is designed for daily use and light sports activities. Its durable plastic case, silicone band, and 50m water resistance make it resilient against everyday wear and splashes. The lightweight design ensures comfort throughout the day.
What is the water resistance of this Invicta Saphirex Racing watch, and can I swim with it?
The Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 has a water resistance of 50 metres. This means it can withstand splashes, rain, and short periods of recreational swimming. However, it is not suitable for snorkelling, diving, or prolonged submersion, so avoid those activities.
How does the Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 compare to other sport watches in its price range?
The Saphirex Racing 48798 stands out with its bold green aesthetic and lightweight plastic construction, offering a unique style. While many sport watches might feature stainless steel, this model prioritises a vibrant look and comfort. Its reliable Japanese quartz movement ensures accurate timekeeping, making it a solid alternative for those seeking a distinctive design.
What type of battery does the Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 use, and how often should it be replaced?
The Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 uses an SR920SW battery. The typical lifespan for such a battery in a quartz watch is usually 2-3 years, depending on usage. It's recommended to have the battery replaced by a professional watchmaker to ensure proper sealing and water resistance.
Is the green silicone band on the Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 removable or interchangeable?
Yes, the green silicone band on the Saphirex Racing 48798 is designed to be removable. This allows for potential replacement if the band wears out or if you wish to customise the watch with a different compatible strap. Always ensure any replacement band has a 29mm width for a proper fit.
Editor's take
The Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 positions itself as an accessible and visually striking sport watch for men who prefer a bold statement on their wrist. With its distinctive green colourway and robust plastic construction, it caters to a younger demographic or those seeking a fun, durable timepiece for everyday adventures. This model embodies Invicta's approach to creating watches that stand out from the crowd.
Underneath its vibrant exterior, the Saphirex Racing 48798 is powered by a reliable Japanese VH67 quartz movement. This choice of movement ensures excellent accuracy and minimal maintenance, making it a practical option for daily wear. The 46mm plastic case, while substantial, is lightweight, and its mineral crystal offers adequate scratch resistance for casual use. The 50-metre water resistance rating provides versatility for various activities, from splashes to short swims.
One area where the Saphirex Racing 48798 might not meet all expectations is its water resistance for more demanding aquatic activities. While 50 metres is sufficient for surface swimming, it is explicitly stated as not suitable for snorkelling or diving. Enthusiasts seeking a true dive companion would need to look for models with higher ratings and ISO certifications. Additionally, the plastic case, while durable, may not appeal to those who prefer the premium feel of stainless steel.
Ultimately, the Invicta Saphirex Racing 48798 is best suited for individuals seeking a fun, reliable, and visually impactful sport watch for casual and light active use. Its quartz mechanism and vibrant design make it a strong contender in its price segment for those prioritising style and practicality over extreme durability or luxury materials. For alternatives, consider other Invicta Racing models or entry-level G-Shock watches for enhanced ruggedness.
